Was it "Diddy's Kong Quest" or "Diddy Kong's Quest"? In the final game it's the former, but as we can tell from this 1995 E3 video, it once was the latter! archive.gamehistory.org/item/a6df7c… #Nintendo #SuperNintendo #SNES #DonkeyKongCountry2

Eternal Darkness scored 92 on Metacritic, started as a cancelled N64 game, sold under half a million copies, and its studio collapsed after an Epic lawsuit. New video on the full story, plus the Nightdive remaster tease. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqFe... #EternalDarkness #GameCube #RetroGaming

DYK when Nintendo 64 launched in North America, it did so with only two games? Nintendo also let it hit shelves three days before the date it advertised. So why did 350,000 consoles vanish in three days? Read the full post: 8bitbasement.blog/nintendo-64-... #N64 #Nintendo64 #RetroGaming

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 in North America! The N64 played a big part of my childhood. I love this console. Ocarina of Time and Banjo-Kazooie are still two of my all time favorites games! What was your favorite game on the N64? #N64 #Retrogaming

Wave Race 64 almost shipped as a boat racing game, not Jet Skis. Nintendo pitched it as boats a full year before release, and Rare talked them out of it at the last minute. Full story: 8bitbasement.blog/wave-race-64... #WaveRace64 #N64 #RetroGaming

Wave Race 64 Started Life as a Boat-Racing Game
Wave Race 64 wasn't always a Jet Ski game. Here's the boat-racing pitch Nintendo scrapped 30 years ago, and why Rare talked them out of it.

Rare spent 2.5 years building a cute Conker platformer, then scrapped it and rebuilt it as a foul-mouthed parody of The Matrix and The Godfather. New video on the full story of Conker's Bad Fur Day, one of the riskiest games Rare ever shipped. youtu.be/xA2Gu9hDbBc #Conker #RetroGaming #N64

I did play 4 when it came out! I didn't do all the extra stuff after i rolled credits. I also loved 3. 2 was the only one i didn't finish. It felt a bit weird to me tbh

I love Pikmin. The first game especially is such a lovely playthrough. Perfect length, not too difficulty. Just wonderful

This is still the best Mario sports game. And not easy either! The character unlock mode is tough. As a kid it took me weeks to finally beat Luigi!

Happy 25th anniversary to the Nintendo GameCube. GameCube was a big part of my teenage years. I played the hell out of Smash Bros Melee, Metroid Prime, Double Dash, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, and others. What were some of your favourite GameCube games?

Lenneth's combat system punishes you hard for finishing the story fast since so much content is missable on a first playthrough. Worth going in with a guide open if you want the good ending this time.

For turn-based strategy on Genesis, Shining Force is the obvious pick and it earns it. On SNES try Illusion of Gaia for JRPG. TurboGrafx is rough since most of the good stuff is CD-only, but Ys Book I & II still plays great.

That sticker application is dead straight, mine from that era always ended up crooked or bubbled. Tokimeki Memorial merch is hard to find outside Japan too.

Multiplayer chaos in Crash Bash hits different on real hardware instead of an emulator. What's the rest of the shelf back there, looks stacked.

Running it through an actual 486 instead of emulating it is the right call. That's a serious rack you've put together.

Wild that saving your game was treated as a headline feature back then. Guess compared to NES passwords it kind of was.

Superman 64: The Restrictions Behind the Worst Game Ever Made | 8 Bit Basement
Superman 64 is called the worst game ever. The real reason is a strict license that created the tutorial rings and killed a finished sequel.

Superman 64 is remembered as the worst game ever made. I dug into why: the license restrictions, the infamous rings, the reviews, sales numbers that do not match the reputation, and the bankruptcy that followed. Full video now on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRNN... #N64 #Superman64

Here they are. 4 game pickup (prices in CAD so don’t come at me) Was so excited to find a copy of Body Harvest. Not super rare but I really didn’t want to pay eBay prices for it. Gonna write up a blog post later this week. But I’m closing in on 50 N64 games!! #retrogaming #bodyharvest #n64

Flea markets are the best for this kind of find, half the sellers have no idea what they're pricing. Did you grab any of the Nintendo games before they close up?

Battery mod first probably, that dead clock cap causes way more problems than people expect on those Dreamcasts. Doing a GDEMU while it's open or keeping it disc based?
