Basically how I feel right now given that UE/Epic seems to be going off the deep end on AI nonsense. Godot is more fun to build in anyway. Now to spend a week porting my level & camera/movement system to validate true viability. I might be a bit giddy.
Distracted boyfriend meme illustrating the desire to move to Godot as a primary game engine over Unreal due to Epic's infatuation with AI nonsense while Godot builds more robust features on a strong & efficient foundation worth supporting, with an update containing a critical requirement for world scale being achieved, inspiring the poster to drop 6 years of experimentation with the former engine for new horizons

A mouse like this for PC games when I was a kid, it was awful. I remember playing Black & White and trying to sling fireballs with great difficulty. It also pinched my fingers & required you to hold it to use. All around 0/10 device.

It is clearly vibe coded because the lack of even the most basic QA is clear. This mindset bleeds to the engine & their whole pipeline. The launcher has always sucked but seeing Epic decend into vibecoded BS instead of doing proper engineering is extremely depressing to see.

The only effective way is to not use it at all, because there isn't ethical use, certainly not currently when lacking in legislation, regulation, and exceeding in excuses & exploitation. It has no good places in the creative field. If it's generating content, it's dead on arrival.

I am optimistic about many things, but not AI. That might change when the math adds up and there are proper regulations keeping it from causing harm. LLMs are clearly not the future in spite of how much they are constantly forced. But for the foreseeable future, I wish it a swift death.

Definitely not cheating, hard to find good reference sometimes though. I collect it but more often than not draw from my mind. It can be handy to use for proportions & perspective though. Trick is not to replicate, but instead take inspiration from. Muscle memory & logic are also good teachers.

"And we're already starting to see the horrific results of this. As our own capacity to focus our attention is lost to this constant barrage of alarm and fear in media, we are sinking into a world ruled by those fears ... when we are afraid, we do not grow, we do not learn, and we do not flourish."

Would this not be something you can do with ControlRig? E.g. youtu.be/wmC4S3Woj5I?... I'd imagine you can set up some nodes to use dev.epicgames.com/documentatio... for some of the physics & then adjust collision separately via nodes in the docs at dev.epicgames.com/documentatio...

Best response back possible xD They missed the mark on remembering this is a social network and having fun & being silly in various ways is part of being social. I hope they take notes

Same. I was in the beta for the first game ages ago, was curious on the second but saw that & flagged it as ignore on Steam, not worth it when other devs are putting in the effort. It's also free which is puzzling, would've preferred to pay for it without AI.

While I agree with the statement from Kelly and that hegseth needs to gtfo, I'll believe it's "huge" when something actually happens. Words mean absolutely nothing without results. I am tired of bluster, I want results. Get him out.

Don't hope. Vote. Take your friends with you & keep them informed. Check in with them during early voting. Act so it happens.

Awesome. Now let's triple it and make sure they all go to the polls. No number of people showing up when it counts is enough. There were big crowds for Kamala too. Don't get complacent. Vote.

There are tons I don't know, but for food at least Secret Fort is a personal fav along w/Ghost Alley Espresso. Eclipse Hat shop is super cool, & I love all the small shops that pop up at Pike Place like the local honey suppliers, various artists, & MarketSpice

Another lovely day of this, but I managed to start re-inking a fresh take on am unfinished painting yesterday so I am pretty happy. Looking forward to more of this later today & plan to take my time instead of rushing & getting lost in the sauce

I can't argue there, I'd imagine there is some logic to their reasoning but I can't seek to defend it without data, & they afaik haven't spilled the beans on why. I am just hopeful I am eventually able to put out something worthwhile that garners enough users to make it a non-issue.

I don't disagree, in the long term it does depend on how the industry does though. The future is not guaranteed. People also complain about Newell's boats but often skip the research that also takes place. The scaling or fee structure could certainly change, it mimics the old retail one time 30% cut

Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
Sure, Support is per-item, but it works in a way like universal healthcare. The bugger games offset the smaller ones for long-term costs. Fee could be lower, but then you end up with the epic games store in terms of performance & features, and lose things like Proton.

Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
It is, it's crazy how many new ones are launching. My library is up to over 1K collective paid games, it is hard to play just some to keep up & still work on my own lol
010 1
Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
I suppose they could charge a fee per build, if you push 20 new builds over the next six months they could all stay on the network for rollbacks. You could also pay a fee for the steam API, player chat, screenshot storage, workshop content, etc.
100 1
Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
In the short term no, if it stays on the network for 15 years and stops making sales but keeps getting downloaded & dozens of new builds, perhaps. Depends on the game, it's not a one-size-fits-all. Drive replacements also have recurring costs. Bandwidth at scale is cost per gigabyte.

Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
Definitely an option, Not trying to say they get nothing out of it. They are a private business so they do have to stay well in the green. Storage costs on a large network do have recurring fees however, network maintenance is why MMOs usually charge a fee or fill w/ ads, for staff/maintenance.
100 1
Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
The same is true for patches & updates, and storage as well. Pushing new/old versions of a full title takes space, GCP, AWS & Azure all happily charge a premium for that storage

Jared @the.atlayntean.engineer · 07/10/2026
A big chunk is from CS skins & such as well. One thing to also note is that bandwidth is not free, yet valve will happily let a user download a $10 10gb indie game at no cost to the dev or user indefinitely. On a self hosted site that is $. They are a landlord, but they also have free parking.

I want to see single digits or lower. When people are complacent they don't go out and vote. The only reason the buffoon is in office is precisely because of complacency. Vote Blue & drag 3 friends with you.

Today's one of those days where I simply cannot stop thinking. ADHD has gone completely off the rails. I'm going to attempt to go back to sleep & then ideally do some digital painting later to hopefully recapture my focus.

Can confirm the same scenes in the animated version that make me tear up do the same in the Manga. Ah, the desire for real connection. Few things strike me the way this makes me feel.

This guy doesn't seem to grasp the concept that there is a difference between art and imagery. Art is far more than a mere object. It's depth; when guided by the human experience- knows no bounds. I'd prefer a child's crayon scribble over any gen ai. Judging art by rendering alone is a shallow view.

Basically this. I dislike AI but the human body in general is a use-it-or-lose-it machine. For every convenience we add to save time, the more personal ability we sacrifice. A simple example is a contact list. Just 2 decades ago, we knew our friends/family's phone numbers. Now they're just a tap.

He seems incompetent enough to not realize that CA would have never started the war & mar a largo is far closer & would be more personally damaging. They could make him bend a knee by threatening his ability to golf, which is depressing.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, even if they're bad. His is wrong and the world won't go along with it because your average person doesn't believe in the benefits with what's clearly happening around them. LLMs are not the future, plain and simple. The math doesn't check out.

My account is not a political one. But I'll say this. Do not be complacent and do pay attention. Go fucking vote. And Blue, so that we can stop this hell. Assume all is lost without your vote, specifically. You never win by assuming others will hopefully carry your weight.

😊 It's taken so long to find this in person, now I can acquire the rest of the series. I could've just ordered it sure, but I find getting the 1st one special. I love Blue Period. I saw the series a few years ago & really wanted a physical copy. That starts now.

Used to work for their support engineering team, it should be able to block these. There are toggles in Security settings to disallow ai & scrapers, security rules can also block them manually before they can reach the origin. It can take some fine-tuning though

Sometimes I wonder if Gen Z/Alpha are aware that mobile devices, computers & other tech all just had replaceable & swappable batteries and that you could get replacements at most random electronics stores without much trouble while keeping a spare or two with you if needed.

I suppose I'll amend this in that that based on other responses in the post, it seems it was sent from a "fan" and not made by BBC. I'm not going to click the link to find out, the above statement still applies. For the time being I'll file the director's statement as "in poor taste".

An alternative might be requiring stuff like needing to smash a loading bar with a big hammer, or operate bellows to make an analog scooter or train go. Make transport feel novel, loading doesn't have to just be about that. It can be just as tactile as everything else.

Instead of just jumping between zones in social VR, it'd be really fun if there was like a tour bus between zones or something, or one of those bike tour pedal things. Sometimes instantaneous movement is too convenient. Gotta appreciate the little things & add back methods appropriate to the medium.

If the script or Art are AI-generated then it isn't worth my time, money or attention & never will be. Simple as that. If this is the direction the BBC is going then I'll simply never engage with their media again. Disappointing.

The answer is simple. Congress hasn't passed strong enough laws to stop it & noone in the judicial branch is doing anything substancial to fix the situation. Therefore we, the people suffer which shouldn't happen. The system is dysfunctional. This must be fixed.

Haha, stained glass is awesome & gives a great vibe when paired with music & smell. Love a good cathedral when the mood strikes. Saddens me a bit here since all the new churches are in barndominium-like metal buildings & seem more like a shack than a home. This piece stands on its own well though 😁

Fwiw it does look a little better on the screen, taking a pic was kind of stupid. Ah well. Digital watercolor inks might be a really fun new style for me, I'll have to experiment more. The blending alone saves me hours. I'll see if I can re-do an old concept from 2013 tomorrow as an experiment
