“When AI systems are used to make decisions about treatments or resource allocation, unclear processes can lead to distrust and potentially harmful outcomes," says Dr. Dr. Olya Vvedenskaya. Ensuring transparency in AI is essential to building systems that are both ethical and reliable.

The complexity and opacity of AI algorithms can make it challenging to understand how they arrive at decisions. This lack of transparency raises questions about accountability, especially in high-stakes domains.

With scienceOS, it takes just two steps to export sources and PDFs from your library: 1. Go to your library and select the sources you want to export. 2. Choose one of the export options.
100
scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Interoperability is especially important when preparing manuscripts, reports, and other scholarly outputs. By enabling direct transfer of references, metadata, and documents, export features reduce manual work while supporting the long-term portability and reuse of research collections.

scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Researchers rarely work within a single software environment. Export capabilities help ensure that literature and related materials remain accessible beyond a single platform, allowing researchers to continue working in the tools and workflows that best fit their needs.

Building AI systems that respect privacy and protect data is essential for maintaining ethical standards in research and beyond. At scienceOS we are committed to data protection. By design, we follow the principles of minimal data collection, need-to-know, and need-to-have to ensure data privacy.

scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
“Without robust safeguards, personal information could be misused or exposed, eroding trust and causing harm," says Olya. In research fields where scientists routinely handle complex datasets, these privacy risks are amplified, potentially undermining both scientific integrity and public trust.
100
scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
The use of large datasets, often containing sensitive personal information, presents significant privacy risks in AI development and application. Ensuring the confidentiality and security of this data is not just a technical requirement - it is a fundamental ethical responsibility.

To support these workflows, scienceOS includes export options for library sources in RIS, BibTeX, and BibTeX+PDF formats. This enables researchers to transfer references into other research environments while preserving the organizational work already completed within scienceOS.

scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Easy access to source metadata and associated documents supports long-term ownership and portability of research materials. This helps ensure that collections remain useful and reusable regardless of where subsequent work takes place.
100
scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Export capabilities also reduce unnecessary manual work. Instead of recreating libraries, re-entering references, or locating documents individually, researchers can move relevant sources directly into their existing workflows.
100
scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Interoperability is particularly important when preparing manuscripts, reports, and other scholarly outputs. Citation managers often serve as the bridge between literature collections and the final publication process.

scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
The ability to export sources helps ensure that research materials remain accessible beyond a single platform. This allows researchers to continue working with their literature in the tools and processes that best fit their needs.

scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Researchers rarely work within a single software environment. Literature discovered, analyzed, and organized in one tool often needs to be transferred into reference managers, writing environments, and publication workflows.

This update of scienceOS is dedicated to Henriette Avram, who pioneered machine-readable cataloging and laid the foundation for modern digital libraries. She showed how scientific knowledge becomes more useful when it is organized. #scienceOS #import #export #chatbar #science www.scienceOS.ai

With the Avram Update, we aim to make research collections easier to build, organize, and put to work in scienceOS.

scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
Organizing knowledge is only part of the research process; making it accessible when you need it matters just as much. The revised chat bar brings AI Actions, source references, and model selection closer to where questions are formed, helping scientists move to trustworthy answers without friction.
100
scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
Yet, a library is not only a place where research enters, but also a place where it can be carried onward in a form that remains useful. With the new export options, curated sources can be moved out again in formats that preserve context and make the collection usable beyond the platform itself.
100
scienceOS @the-scienceos.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
Research libraries are rarely built all at once; they usually grow out of existing collections, older workflows, and material spread across different tools. The updated library is designed with that reality in mind, making it easier to bring sources into scienceOS from Zotero and local folders.
