if it was a tire pressure light, then probably the pressure's just low (can happen when the weather gets cooler), should just need a top up of air wherever you can fill a tire

010

matpi | YUME WA POWER @the-matpi-corner.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

true, but it's also very possible; the only reason it hasn't happened is because the teachers aren't getting the resources they need in the right areas

010

matpi | YUME WA POWER @the-matpi-corner.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

trig functions are such elegant machines that have so much power, going beyond geometry to help describe stuff in the real world like harmonic motion. and yet students don't have the tools to understand this power cuz all they're taught is soh cah toa. anyway rant over.

120

matpi | YUME WA POWER @the-matpi-corner.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

instead of just having students memorize these arbitrary ratios with square roots and whatnot. hell, even i don't know what sine and cosine really are apart from functions that take an angle as its input and output a number between -1 and 1. what is the motivation behind this?

120

matpi | YUME WA POWER @the-matpi-corner.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

the unit circle is not trig itself so stop treating it like it is. at best it is a tool to visualize the relationship between the sine and cosine functions visually, and to me that's all it's ever been. it would be so much better if you actually taught what sine and cosine actually were...

130

matpi | YUME WA POWER @the-matpi-corner.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

i'm realizing that the unit circle just kinda sucks ass at the thing it's supposed to do. like why is this a thing we have to memorize and WHY THE FUCK DO SCHOOLS HAVE TESTS ON IT? like this isn't even applying the unit circle it's just "can you remember the unit circle?" like shut the fuck up...

120

matpi | YUME WA POWER @the-matpi-corner.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

ok need to rant about the unit circle and how fucking STUPID it is bc it quite literally hinders you from actually understanding trig. i already kinda had beef with the unit circle because memorizing it was way harder than just reconstructing it for me, but now that i'm actually studying math ed...

Nova and her cat Nebula on a sleepy day! 💙 Art by @windygria.art

Artwork of Nova, a trans magical girl from the "Magica Riot" series, sleeping on a couch with her white cat Nebula on her chest. Nova has blue twintail hair and is sleeping in a yellow t-shirt with a floral design barely visible beneath the cat, and the shirt is hiked up just enough to reveal pink panties underneath.
