Fully separate. It does give temporary protection on the sides but the center pocket is always a reaction/skill check. Unless your build is really focused on durability it is also unlikely it will last the entire room

Tilting definitely helps, but improving the durability of your slingshots also protects the side pockets, so there are a few stats and items that can help protect against swatter types

Haha fairness would be debatable I suppose. The box2d physics are as close as we can get to it feeling fair but there are 'swatter' enemies that can really check your reaction skills. Might depend who you ask.

Endless is moreso that you have either skillfully beaten the boss by sheer pinball mechanics, or you had a lucky run or clever build. Endless is just a fun extra step if you really want to see the full limitation of the game. Pinball mechanics are always core to survival though.

It definitely does, but you could only realistically expect this kind of power in the endless mode where the regular run cycle is a balance of power and skill. A poor luck run will really check your pinball skills while the opposite can also be true with a strong build
