This reveals man as victorious - certainly he was referring to Jesus here - but again, it could be humanity as the victor. Surrounded by angels and light; renewed in strength and courage. #romanticism #williamblake #london #england #heaven #mysticism #spirituality

The theme is one of bondage, pain and suffering. It could be a character from the Bible, but perhaps common man and his existence in creation. Who among us has never felt entrapment or bondage to something or someone? #romanticism #williamblake #londonengland #heaven #mysticism #spirituality

This piece is very symbolic in feel, but the characteristics of Romanticism still present. What do you think the message is here? I believe the man with the protractor is Blake himself. H #art #romanticism #williamblake #london #england #heaven #mysticism #spirituality

She always made sure her subjects were portrayed in the best light which made her immensely popular with the aristocrats because they knew she would make them look beautiful. This allowed her to make a good living and for a woman artist at that - very unusual at the time.

ELISABETH LOUISE VIGEE LE BRUN. She used a draping effect in many of her portraits for a softer look. Her main goal was to paint a beautiful representation of the aristocratic ladies who employed her. This is a portrait from 1797 of Countess Worontzoff. #romanticism #art
