do you research non-perennial streams or variably inundated ecosystems? consider submitting to our session for AGU26!

last chance to get in on the votes for Round 1!! check out these eight human-impacted catchments! my loyalty will always lay with the Chesapeake Bay — I fell in love with hydrologic science there, and really appreciate all the beaches, tidal marshes, sunsets, and critters the Bay has to offer
a bright, multicolored sunset over a still tidal river in eastern VA, with forested and steep banksclear, shallow water running up on a sandy beach that hugs the left side of the image. taken on Tangier Island, VA Delaney back in her state park ranger days holding a juvenile menhaden fish, which is a critical species for the Bay ecosystem and also for Chesapeake communitiesa tidal marsh, with a green Old Town canoe in the foreground, still dark water, and marsh grasses in front of the forest upland areas in the background. there is also a great blue heron on the marsh flat

more river cup!! vote for your favs and stick around for some fun facts! in my humble opinion, Hubbard Brook is the clear winner here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

another day another group of catchments to vote for! head to the H3S website to vote for your favorite rain-dominated catchments! I am preferential to Panola, because I think our southeastern, slightly less steep watersheds deserve some love! pls enjoy this nearby Piedmont watershed (Talladega NF)
a hillside in the Talladega National Forest (AL, USA) with vibrant fall colors a disconnected stream in the Talladega National Forest, where the banks are covered in bright fallen leaves and the standing water is dark and full of tanninsthe understory of the Talladega National Forest, with rocky hillsides and sparse ground cover below a dense forest canopy in the summer

also life update: a lot happened in Sept… I defended my dissertation, and got to share all the exciting things we’ve learned about small southeastern streams! I also started as a postdoc at Oregon State! i’m stoked to work with @wardhydro.bsky.social on the role headwaters play in downstream WQ!

super excited to share that my first dissertation chapter is out in WRR! here, we operationalize the river corridor of a headwater Coastal Plain network into hydrogeomorphic features to characterize hydrologic connectivity across dimensions check it out here: doi.org/10.1029/2024...

... AND got to present a poster on our new project understanding the drivers of channel initiation across the larger Southeast! thank you to Mark DeGraff for the opportunity to share this work with the larger community, and excited to see where it goes from here!

had an wonderful time at #AGU24! I had the awesome opportunity to present my first dissertation chapter in the long-standing CZ session (preprint available here: doi.org/10.31223/X5M...) and think about how our perceptual model of Coastal Plain hydrology fits into the larger picture ...
