Two weeks ago: pneumonia. As of this week: "We don't know if it's just 'cuz he's deep chested or if he still has pneumonia but there's "something" there." He doesn't care though. He's happy, feels good, and is pumped he gets to eat chicken (definitely with no pills in it).

Had a flashback while at home. The Intern woke up from a nap, and intervened. First time outside of an appointment He's had to do it, and he nailed it. Good. Boy. He got his treat early because of this.

Guess who had an urgent care visit after every vital sign spiked overnight a few days ago. A prior illness turned into pneumonia in one of his lungs and while he's on the mend and with a really good outlook, he's very annoyed that our walks are shorter, and I'm acting all worried about him.

I don't panic when... Dealing with gunfire outside my house Handling highly flammable liquids / gasses that are juuuuuust barely "safe" Managing medical emergencies I do panic when I'm driving home I'm watching TV *Other normal things* Trauma brains.... They're weird.

Why yes my bed's a mess, but Kovu over here got a new stuffie and is very excited. He appears to be able to detect anxiety in me before I can through changes in my voice, which will be interesting to see if I can use as triggers for him to intervene prior to anxiety and panic attacks. Good. Boy.

It's really weird to me that legally, because of where I live and who I am, I can now take my dog "anywhere." Like.... A month ago dude was a regular dog with no rights, but now he can (doesn't mean will) just go anywhere I can go. Laws are weird. Glad I'm not a lawyer. Photo semi-related.

Kovu and I were doing basic public access skill building today on our walk by working on ignoring distractions / people / animals. He did great, even when people had conversations with me he was locked in and solid. ...Until he found a nesting duck and managed to grab feathers off of it... Oh well.

The poor Intern is learning some psych service dog shtuff for me and let me tell you he does not like my therapist. He knows she makes me feel bad (EMDR), so he tries to stop her with his snoot. But he also gets attention from and hang out with a bunch of LPC/LMFT interns so.... he wins.

Nightmares are getting pretty ptsd-y. Haven't had that since age.... 19? At the same time, they weren't bordering on daily at age 19. At least now I'm far better equipped to handle them. Still... it's good news that my brain is emotionally processing the hard stuff. Just... ugh. No sleep.

I love how the Intern, Kovu, can manage to be this giant wolfy boy who will be rough and tumble and wild when it's safe to do so, but also be the most protective and gentle guardian to every child he meets. An absolute angel.

He likely will not be working at the airport this year, and I hit the end of my time there next year, so it looks like the Intern's career in aviation is done before it even began. Instead he's taking up the really difficult job of front porch sitting and squirrel annoying. A+. No notes.

The intern had professional photos taken at work a few weeks ago. It was his last day at work until the ops team approves or denies him for wildlife control training this year. Until then, He's doing group therapy with me, chasing squirrels at the dog park, and eating pupuccinos.

Intern has been doing increasingly long shifts with me at work. He's not a fan of office work. He thought wherever I go would be as fun as the trips to the puppy park or state parks that we usually do. Alas.... It's office work. He does like his coworkers though.

The Intern... Did a dog park trip today where he met his small sweater wearing friend. Was tricked into going to the vet for his vaccine boosters(he did great, and loved the baby food.) Gained 2 pounds since last month. And is now feeling sick because of the shots he got. Poor baby.

The Intern had his first half day at work today. He was nervous, but very happy to learn where I go during the day. He got to meet his coworkers, and some of the flight crews he's going to protect from bird strikes, then got tons of pets and love from everyone. He also got broccoli tonight.

The Intern started his orientation and desensitization to the airport, and all the noises that come with it, today with a short perimeter run on a long lead. He also met some coworkers and tenants in our building. He does not like waking up early.

The intern met his doctor today. He thought she was awesome. She thought he was a really well behaved little guy. He even did his vaccines without any issue. Now he gets to meet other dogs over the weekend and try to make friends.

In my quest to make my life more difficult (and because I needed an ESA), I rehomed a working dog mix last night. He and I are now racing to see who gets trained as a therapy dog first. He likes blueberries and snuggling. What a guy.

I am super excited to report that while my peer reviews of my therapy process is coming back as "not horrible" I feel I have so much room for improvement. I'm not perfect, and it's great. I can only improve in my eyes, and I'm super excited to do just that.
