Their visual theme is the flow of a gas giant. No single color on them ever stays in the same position. it all flows just like their aurora inspired mane. They are constantly but subconsciously and literally keeping themselves together in this form. It's like breathing to them.

They don't have much of a "character". They wander alone and are silently in charge of the planet in a similar fashion to say, Celestia the sun and Luna the moon. Yes there are others like them in charge of the other planets.
