He had that beguiling combination of vanity, stupidity, pomposity and malice. As a politician he was way ahead of his time.

On our brief acquaintance Archer struck me as the kind of man whose word is someone else’s bond, that he nicked, lied about and has already sold 3 times to 5 different people. He was the Godfather of Grift.

During the filming breaks on Bridget Jones’s Diary he alternated between deluded declarations of “When I’m Mayor of London…” to no one in particular (the real writers had gathered in another corner) and cornering actresses with his vaguely oily and embarrassing flirting. An utter narcissist.

True- it’s very hard to educate people about class consciousness or the delusions of free market economics when they’re up to their neck in debt in a system they don’t realise is rigged from the top. The right groom them and the left can’t believe they’re so gullible but offer nothing better.

This is a noble sentiment. Sadly, demagogues and hacks know that once people latch onto an amygdala hijack (feels true) they will reject accurate information that contradicts it. Not only does truth have to ‘get its trousers on’, when it finally does nobody is listening, unless we call out the con.

I’m convinced that rightwing populism is the political equivalent of bringing a wild animal into the workplace and bragging about how it’ll shake the place up a bit. You stick a jacket and tie on it, get it to run for a management role and laugh when it shits on Sandra’s desk and eats her lunch.

As a friend pointed out, the line “you may as well get used to it- cos it’s basically inevitable now” is also the language of fascism. They can do whatever they want to you, so you may as well stop objecting- is the deeply flawed logic. It’s very male, and uses indifference to mask violence.

We had enough of people with medically irrelevant PhDs speaking several thousand miles out of their field of expertise on the ‘dangers of vaccines’ during COVID. Cofnas writes like a cheap hack with an op-ed deadline, while shrouding himself in his academic gown like he’s cosplaying Voldemort.

Cofnas has all the academic rigour of a cheap hack with an op-ed deadline, cosplaying Voldemort and shooting poison incel darts from behind his doctoral gown.
Quote from Cofnas paper: “While race realism may be less dangerous than we think, the DEI devil may be more dangerous. Brainwashing generations of children to believe that intractable group differences are the fault of a particular race (whites) that will soon be a shrinking minority can end in a dark place. Even now, when wokism does not pose a serious physical threat to anyone, it has poisoned art, culture, scholarship, and social relationships. White children are brainwashed to despise themselves because of their skin color.
Anecdotally, white children are sometimes driven to transgenderism in an attempt to escape the shameful status of oppressor. The humanities and much of the social sciences have been slain on the altar of DEI. Meaningful art of any kind has become almost impossible. In short, wokism is ruining everything that matters except (for the time being) GDP. The fact that we can imagine a worse-case-scenario end to the hereditarian revolution shouldn't blind us to the dangers of the status quo, and the damage that it has already inflicted upon us.

I’d agree- my kids, for example, find reading incredibly hard/stressful. But avoiding it completely doesn’t help them build confidence, or with the real world where vital information is written. It’s all about the teaching and dismantling of that paralysing fear.

Where to even start with the (entirely unsubstantiated) notion that people have sought to change gender because they hate being white?! I have 2 white teen children who despise racism, feel contempt for racists and yet haven’t been taught to hate themselves for being white. Imagine.

Not wanting to start any new media pile-ons, but anyone that can write this sort of incoherent bollox and still call himself an academic has no business at any respected university.

Very telling that right after claiming he’s “not afraid of these people” he says he refuses to “be humiliated by a bunch of nobodies”, forgetting that humiliation from peers can only happen if you let it, or are vulnerable to it. His skin is so thin he’s afraid of standing next to Binface.
