Little Sunday hobby time. Making some modular firing steps for my tench project. I had a batch of 3d printed ladders fail, but there's enough of them to use to detail up the steps!

Work in Progress for my Living Saint kitbash. I wanted something that gave more biblically accurate angel vibes, so opted for 2 pairs of DE Scourge wings. Also replaced the scroll for a ruined statue to give her about the same height but a MUCH more stable connection to the base.

Started working on my Triumph of St. Katherine proxy, just roughing in the placement of the characters. I'm going for a moment where a combined-arms group of Sisters, Inq. Stormtroopers, and Frateris Militia are escorting the bones of the saint through the streets.

Finished up my Junith Eruita proxy kitbash today. This came out EXACTLY how I saw it in my head. I wanted a zealous preacher delivering a sermon from atop a pulpit carried by the faithful and I think I nailed it. I've got some minor gap filling to do but I am SO excited to get this painted.

I've been in the #Warhammer hobby for more than 20 years now and by far my favourite thing About doing it for that long is diving into my enormous bits box for an obscure kitbash. Looking at a model and thinking "I know JUST the bit for that" is so satisfying 😊

All of my late night purchases arrived together, despite being from different vendors 😅 The pile of shame grows. . .

Kitbashed a dogmata from a Bretonnia foot night and some Celestian Insidiant bits.

Playing around with some dramatic lightning setups for picture backdrops. Little teaser for what's currently on the painting desk 👀

Another couple games of Spearhead this weekend. Got to take my Stormcast and Nighthaunt out for a spin, winning both games. I'm definitely going to paint up my Bretonnia/Cities of Sigmar Spearhead next!

thatdudepaints.bsky.social @thatdudepaints.bsky.social · 06/05/2026

Another game of Spearhead last night. Super close until the last moments. I spent the entire game as the underdog, but managed to pull out a 19/16 win. My Lord Veritant was the MVP, tanking combats from 5 different units and surviving with 1 wound to score the clutch final points. LOVE this game!

Everything I've painted so far in 2026! 76 minis/terrain pieces, and 1890 points worth of models. Should definitely be on track to beat my 106 minis painted in 2025!

Half of my first finished squad of battle sisters. I had a ton of fun painting these ladies! #warhammer #warhammer40k #paintingwarhammer #adeptasororitas

Work in progress chaos contemptor to use as a helbrute proxy for my Red Corsairs. He's going to be stomping on/crushing a couple imperial fists. Really pleased with how he's coming along so far!

Need to add a little green stuff work to this guy, but very pleased with how he's coming along.

Doing some surgery to reattach this thumb to this WIP kroot banner bearer. Easily the most fiddly conversion I've ever done 😐

thatdudepaints.bsky.social @thatdudepaints.bsky.social · 01/02/2026

Got the chance to play a game of 40k on a fully finished board with two fully painted armies this weekend 😍 I got absolutely annihilated, but at least it looked pretty 😅

Finished off a batch of new additions for the Imperial Fists. Some Templar Brethren-themed bladeguard, a Judiciar, and a Jump Chaplain.

A potato picture of what I've already finished so far this year. Odds look good that I'll have my stormcast spearhead finished by the end of the month.

081

thatdudepaints.bsky.social @thatdudepaints.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Here's all the #Warhammer I got finished in 2025! 106 minis and pieces of terrain, and more than 3,500 points worth of models. This is easily the most I've painted in a single year before.

My #warhammer goodies that I got for Xmas. I am SOOOO excited to paint up Krondys!!!

Another concept piece for a potential trench board. The snowy version felt too desaturated so I wanted a grasslands version. I think I prefer it but I only had a custom green blend to hand which wasn't as green as I'd have liked.

I've been on the hunt for a good alternative to Citadel's Stormshield varnish for the last week and have settled on a basically 50/50 mix of AK Interactive Matt and Ultramatt varnishes. It just keeps a bit of the natural reflection of light and saturation of color without making things dusky/dull.

110

thatdudepaints.bsky.social @thatdudepaints.bsky.social · 19/10/2025

I've fully gone off ultramatt varnish. I find it sucks the life out of the colors too much and makes my minis look a little sad and flat. Going to experiment with some regular matt varnishes to try and get a little bit of that shine and color vibrancy back.

It's #WIPWednesday and today is 🎵All About the Base🎵 I typically like to paint my #warhammer bases separately to the minis because I'm a fan of intricate basing and I don't want to mess up the base or model trying to do either or.

040

thatdudepaints.bsky.social @thatdudepaints.bsky.social · 12/10/2025

Some stills of the finished Lysander that I showed off yesterday 💪 Really pleased with how this mini came out overall!

A finished shock troop for the 122nd cadians. I've been playing some 500 pt. King of the Coliseum games lately which has reinvigorated my love for the guard, so I'm painting up a dedicated detachment for the game mode. #warhammer #warhammer40k #paintingwarhammer #warhammercommunity #astramilitarum

I've been testing out a bunch of different filming options for making painting videos and I think I'm real close now. Need more light on the mini but pretty happy with overall framing!

Some #Bretonnia Pegasus knights I finished up earlier this year. The bright, vibrant colors were a nice change to the black/red scheme but when I decided to try and apply more of that philosophy to the rest of the army it ground the project to a halt 🤣 #warhammercommunity #paintingwarhammer

0175

thatdudepaints.bsky.social @thatdudepaints.bsky.social · 26/10/2024

Some #Bretonnia knights of the realm I painted up earlier this year. They are 3d prints from Highlands Miniatures, and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. Still need to hit them with some matt varnish to take down the shine though. #warhammer #paintingwarhammer #warhammercommunity

An #imperialfists hellblaster. Fairly happy with the plasma on this. This was the model that really made me want to move away from speedpainting this army, though, and when I return to them it will be with maximum effort! #warhammer #paintingwarhammer #warhammercommunity #warhammer40k
