This is one of my favorite photos from yesterday. We need more of these sentiments, especially right now!

An outdoor scene on a countryside hill, with letters forming the words "peace, love, joy, hope" - about five feet tall - in front of a church.

And tonight, we're in New Jersey! This is the view from our hotel window. (Tomorrow, we should be back in Maine.)

A brilliant red-orange sunset beneath a pale blue, slightly cloudy sky, contrasted against the black silhouettes of trees.

We stopped at a gas station off I-95, just south of Washington, D.C. The gas station wasn't anything unusual, but... off to the side, there was a gravel path leading into a wooded area. With the sun behind the trees - it looked lovely... calm and timeless.

South of the Border (on I-95 between North & South Carolina) is wonderfully eccentric. Here's a photo from today's visit to their Mexico West shop.

A larger-than-life figure of a cougar or similar large cat, painted with vivid and whimsical colors, at the front of a room filled with hats, purses, and a figure of a camel... wearing a sombrero.

View from our hotel room in Santee, South Carolina. A great, restful view after nearly 10 hours of driving north from Orlando, Florida.

High contrast photograph with a rich, dark blue sky and lilac-colored clouds, and - closer to the horizon - the colors slowly change to a vivid and warm red-orange, with the silhouette of trees below, and then - in the foreground - a very dark parking lot with a couple of bright white street lights.

So... I'm back. Not sure how much I'll be posting here, but Facebook has become tiresome and too time-consuming, to find posts by actual friends. (Apparently, 54% of Facebook's feed to us is composed of ads and posts by people we don't know.) I'm also test-driving LiveJournal (as Aisling).

A seagull at Sohier Park, York, Maine (USA) during a recent visit near sunset.

A solitary seagull on a stone column, with snow in the foreground, then water (the Atlantic Ocean), and - in the distance - homes and hills lining the opposite shore. The sky is mostly dark and cloudy, but the horizon is a brilliant mix of yellow and orange, since it was sunset.

Another update re: not actually OWNING the Kindle books you've thought you were buying... Per Val, a FB friend, "Yes, that’s infuriating. I recently noticed my book purchases now say I’m buying a “license”. Maddening."

I think I've stumbled onto a business model that will give me more time for art AND for writing. Woooot! Meanwhile, here's one of this week's torn-paper collages. (3" x 5" on cold-pressed watercolor paper. Images from an issue of "Yankee" magazine, plus gold glitter.)

This is a torn-paper collage. The words "inspired" and "living" with an early evening photo of a New England home or inn, in a snowy setting. The lights in the home are warm and welcoming, kind of a golden yellow. The lower left side of the collage is accented with two kinds of gold glitter. On the right side, a torn image of tall, slender tree trunks - leafless - are a pale tan and white image, referencing winter as well.

Hmm... unless it's imperative for viewers to actually SEE what you're talking about in a YouTube video, editing the visual elements may be pointless now. Actually, a lot of videos may not be viewed at all, due to this tool: www.makeuseof.com/google-gemin...

Dinosaur World in central Florida is weird and wonderful... especially if you visit with children, or a husband who's still a child at heart. lol! The dinos are full-size, and that sign on the tree shows how high the water was during Hurricane Milton. Wow!

A life-size model of a dinosaur, painted in the approximate colors - mostly red, yellow, and green stripes - in an overgrown, heavily wooded area of Florida. A sign on a tree shows that, during Hurricane Milton, the flood waters reached at least six feet in height. (I can't imagine the mud they had to shovel and scrape off the dozens of dinosaur figures in this park.)

Yesterday's fog at the Magic Kingdom (Disney World, FL). It made everything seem even more magical there.

The Sleeping Beauty castle at Walt Disney World, yesterday morning. The fog was glorious and just dense enough to make it look as if the castle was emerging from a dream!

Here's why we're going to Disney World tonight, and probably tomorrow, and Sunday, too: Last Saturday morning, Wait times were RIDICULOUSLY short... even with gorgeous weather. (This was the first time in _years_ we've seen the wait <1 hour. "Pirates..." was the same.)

At Disney World's EPCOT park, it's the annual Festival of the Arts. As part of that, artists are invited to create chalk art on the walkway to the World Showcase. It was inspiring!

A line of people admiring - and taking photos of - chalk art on the walkway to EPCOT's World Showcase. Most of the images referenced "Star Wars" themes, with bold colors and imagination.

Another surprise at WDW this weekend: Seeing this t-shirt amid a sea of people wearing Disney-themed shirts. I took this (unknown) guy's photo and shared it with Patrick Renna. (The Rennas are long-time friends from shared time in Boston & L.A. ...I LOVE coincidences!)

A smiling man at EPCOT's World Showcase, wearing a t-shirt referencing Patrick Renna's role in the movie, "The Sandlot," when Patrick's character was called "Smalls." (The shirt has a quote from the movie: "You're killing me, Smalls!") At least 95% of the t-shirts we see on people at Disney World have some obvious Disney connection. So, seeing this guy's shirt was astonishing... and amusing. The guy let me take his photo, but I'm not sure he believed that I know the Rennas personally. lol

We needed to get out of the house and pretend that everything's normal here. So, we went to WDW, and spent the evening at EPCOT. Here's a photo from their GORGEOUS current costume display.

Four mannequins in costumes from Disney stage performances, such as The Lion King. Rich colors and dramatic lighting add to the sense of drama and style.
