Such pronouncements are not a reflection of reality, but of the desire to control you, by having you simultaneously: (1) distrust your own judgment; and (2) relinquish your free agency to an officer of the State. Such attempts at programming the citizenry are both evil and dangerous.

There are so many great, native Fall flowering plants, like coneflowers, goldenrod, and purple asters, and all I can find in local garden centers is non-native crap like celosia, chrysanthemums, and pansies. Hurumpf. (Some lovely mounds of asters shown, for your enjoyment.)
