I feel like my formulation of all this might be a bit wishy-washy (big topic), but should be generally what im feeling about AI in VRChat. Please share your opinion over the survey as well. ask.vrchat.com/t/regarding-...

I have indulged you here, answering on the terms you delineated by your AI use/labeling categories 1-7.

I do not wish to see AI used in ANY kind in VRChat. I wish to see the friction and skill that is present in the act of creation of each individual publishing their work here. This means I want to see unfinished, "low quality", "annoying", etc. creations just as much as "good" ones. What I want to see is a creator at work.

In fact there is a lot of work on display in VRChat that is by the usual standards of 3D/video game art "low-quality", that is filled with incredible amounts of love and particular interests of the creator.

I despise the use of AI tools because they remove me as a observer of these creations from the creator as a person, turning these creations into pure products and the act of creation as a means to an end.

The fact that AI is getting "better" at creating "high quality output" is of no matter, because the generally perceived quality should not be a matter for what is on VRChat. My wish for this community is, that it is one that can continue to connect over their creativity and creative skills. Permitting AI is inviting alienating quality/product-first thinking into it, when I believe what makes VRChat special is authenticity-of-self-first thinking.

In short:
AI tools hinder, even prevent, communication between creators (and observers!) by presenting shortcuts to a product, separating and preventing community ties that make VRChat what it is.
Effective moderation/labeling/feedback can help creators and observers who are interested in this conversation find one another. Those who are not interested in this conversation can be excluded (this is good).

I subscribed to #vrchat plus as soon as i could afford it, because it has been an important community to me for more than 8 years now, and I want to keep it running. Seeing my support be used for hosting and promoting slop that displaces what is made by passionate people is disheartening.

Cancellation of my VRChat Plus subscription.

Got all the signal taps installed. Also ordered all parts for amplification and a totally new capture setup that should be more reliable.

A opened VCR with many wires coming out. It is playing a tape and an oscilloscope in the background shows the raw video and audio signals from the tape.

hmm yes remesh modifiers go in a good direction, maybe with some geo nodes noise or something... but it can also add volume, not just erode it, which makes it unsuitable as far as i can tell

I'm looking for a Blender tip... Say I have some sort of "building" type mesh. Lots of irregularly space loop cuts. How could I go about smoothing this out *nondestructively*, giving it a sort of wind-sand-smoothed surface?

it's fun to make dialog trees in obsidian notes

gay little vr control center. those two arrows let me turn on/off the lighthouses in case they didnt shut down properly at vr exit, the topmost blorbo is Envision (/Monado, replaces SteamVR). its pretty cool how you can just do things with you computer if its not windows
