My Fractions Lesson 1 idea (outline): start with whole numbers. I'll try to have some more soon.

Woot! I submitted my consciousness paper for this. Seasoned research people-friends, are there funding sources I can tap into to get me to this conference?

This book, Radical Cartography, is so good (www.amazon.com/Radical-Cart...). I'm going into Chapter 4 mostly a believer in Betteridge's Law, but I suspect I'm not going to come out of it that way.

I wrote this and some people liked it: The buttery shuffle And cold steaming of morning’s mute gloaming. Perhaps we will fish And drink coffee We are free to do as we wish. Perhaps we will again fish.

The great Ariana Huffington has weighed in on education, y'all. And her offering is the pyramid of myth. How delightful.

This one was for graphing ratios in Grade 6. I used the idea of a perceptron updating its linear decision boundary (the "just-right" ratio that is ultimately graphed). These are attempts at making bread--not the most exciting but no one gives a shit about 'exciting' word problems.

The description--quoted from former congressman Samuel McCall--sounds . . . contemporary. All the more interesting that Twain believed it to be an "exact portrait" of President Theodore Roosevelt.

From Twain's autobiography. He inserted sections of his daughter Suzy's attempts at a biography of her father also. This entry is from December 28, 1906 (and Suzy's was of course written 20 years earlier. (Twain outlived her.) @lynne-kelly-42.bsky.social

My daily view (in the fall). I've been wanting to write about a concept I used to write about--'precision,' in telling and teaching. It does not mean (to me) to describe or explain anything perfectly, exactly, objectively--which is as nonsensical as dividing by zero.

And this guy just reiterated a theory I've heard that H. sapiens's stronger drives for affiliativity (my word probably) allowed them to simply outcompete H. neanderthalensis, being able to cover more area, etc.

From Brantôme's Lives of Fair and Gallant Ladies (Vol. 1!). The murderer, revealed by Footnote 8, was en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%.... The link tells us that the murdered was pregnant. The King praised the crime as the murder of a "fame whore." There are 9000 pages of this.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_I_d... I want to teach about a duel, and I find this to be an acceptable use of AI to make the characters more interesting to think about--because it's a matter of creativity and we don't care about accuracy.

I absolutely agree with the first sentence (which is one reason why my consciousness paper is so bizarre; how do you write a paper for all of those folks?). And I agree with the rest too, just not so much with the parenthetical. This thinking, again, casts 'display' as more important than it is.
