Making history and Nigeria(ns) are like 5&6.

I am somewhat surprised that this platform is not trending as a social media platform for the ongoing US Presidential Election cycle activities.

Wow! She’s on record saying the exact opposite that it’s Rema that changed her life forever.

Oh, my bad! Then just ‘bore’ us at least with the heavenly stories from those places, so we’ll have something to aspire to, right? I don’t get the fixation on local Nigerian crimes that don’t even make national headlines in the country, globalizing them on Bluesky. What’s the agenda?

RiskMap, please report similar stories in other countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Europe, China, Asia generally, the Arab world, etc for information as well, to update us. Focusing only or mainly on Nigeria for these updates is like preaching to the converted.

Seems like RiskMap is usually a compendium of the negative about Nigeria. It’s as though Nigeria is the location for all that’s negative.

In other words, the fact of abductions is uncontested, the dispute is over the inflated numbers. Seems to me, the fact of abductions is foundational to the figures, factual or fallacious, churned out.

I would rather characterize it as required behavior change not wedding dilemma. If it requires enforcement of existing law for Nigerians to treat the national currency (Naira) with respect, I am all for it.

Does this riskmap document crimes in other parts of the world at all? Isn’t the whole world a RiskMap crime wise?

“Efforts are being made to repair the damaged….”, let me guess, for the next thieving session to commence, right? Are there laws at all on this and other national critical infrastructure vandalism and are they being enforced?

What’s the point of your question?

Misleading. The company she defamed has sued her. She claimed the product contained unhealthy amount of sugar and is killing people. The product is clearly labeled tomato mix with its sugar element boldly listed. She was unfamiliar with the mix and confused it with her usual tomato paste.

Aptly put Mr. President. It’s ironical that people want solutions yet they are criticizing solutions being implemented without providing superior alternatives.

I think so myself and agree with the lawmaker’s position. Historically, each time we confront challenges like this, the record shows that we bounce back better, bigger and stronger. It’s the Nigerian spirit, overcoming challenges. it’s in our DNA.

You can simply qualify your posts on this public forum as “Read only” rather than get all riled up because a contrarian advice is offered. I still would like to be enlightened as to the value of going back to a spilt milk that’s unlikely to be salvaged a year after.

What is the point, the value, of fixating on what’s clearly an irreversible reality now, the matter having been litigated through the judicial system to no avail? Move on and recalibrate for the future if you don’t like what happened last time around.

Bad Leadership, Leadership capabilities and visions, to me, are 2 sides of the same coin. My question was/is, about the pool from which this leadership is drawn, doesn’t a mirror reflect/reveal the image presented to it?
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 16/02/2024
On bad leadership causing all the problems in Nigeria, help me understand, is the pool from which our bad leadership is drawn different from that containing the good citizens? How do we square up good citizens routinely throwing up bad leaders? Something’s not right with this logic.

The day that Nigerians and Africans stop cozying up to America and the West to validate who we are and what we do will be the day that we will attain our freedom and realize our worth. You make music in Nigeria/Africa then look to American Grammys to validate you. Hilariously ridiculous!

How so, I wonder. Does it mean that South Africa can or should never win and Nigeria can or should never lose? Otherwise, one SA win should not be seen or described as a SA - Nigeria rivalry issue. But of course, @BBCWorld has a narrative to push and that is to stoke a nonexistent rivalry.

Cities occupy a part or parts of countries’ landmass (es). Thus, as concentrations of people within areas of a country’s defined landmass (geographical area), it simplifies things that the population occupying a segmented area (city) of a country’s landmass is emphasized.
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 17/01/2024
Oh I see, that’s the frame of your view of the matter?🤣 Well, countries generally border each other, except for example, island countries such as Madagascar and so it makes, to me at least, that they are reckoned by the landmass they occupy….

Based on my logic? Was it your logic then when you asserted that Ibadan is the largest city in West Africa? Are we going to just debate or try to enrich and enlighten? Why the pivot to countries when the subject of your lead post is the city of Ibadan?

I apologize, my bad, there was an error on my part about Russia’s population. I had meant 145 million and didn’t even notice that I typed 245million rather than 145 million. Thanks for drawing my attention to it, other than that, 145 million is the current estimated population of Russia.
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 17/01/2024
I served in Russia at our Embassy there and only recently returned. I compiled and often updated quick facts about Russia for background briefing for our visiting government officials, Google and now AI don’t always get it right, just saying. Focus is what I am about, is it cities or countries?
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 17/01/2024
Note also that you’ve mentioned countries not a city or cities anymore.
100
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 17/01/2024
Russia has a population of 245 million but has a landmass in excess of 17 million square kilometers. Niger Republic on our northern border is the largest country in West Africa by landmass (over 1.270 million square kilometers) but with a population of just a little more than 25 million.

terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 17/01/2024
The standard metric for ranking cities/countries, is population not landmass and regardless of landmass. At any rate, you didn’t state “by landmass” when stated that Ibadan is the largest city in West Africa hence my inquiry about your ranking metric.
100
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 17/01/2024
By what metric are you declaring Ibadan to be the biggest city in West Africa? It used to be but it’s not any more.

The words and tone that you use to express yourself constitute the language that you choose (elect) and control, that’s what the original tweet is about, it laments the incivility that dominates our exchanges and advocates a return to civility.
100
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 08/12/2023
Let me understand you properly, disagreement entails or should entail disrespect, is that a correct reading of your statement?
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 08/12/2023
Please note that the “ruling class” that we individually elect and control is the language we use to communicate in a social context. Is our use of language civil or uncivil? That’s the question we can each ask and answer for ourselves.
100
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 08/12/2023
Incivility has, undoubtedly, in my opinion, generated and is sustaining, a social climate of anger and extremism which has sucked many of our people into the fallacious notion that we have to be nasty to make our point.

So what’s new? Referencing other countries to knock Nigeria is a jaded armchair criticism style, it’s a marvel that it continues to be resorted to.

3 Trillion for defence and security sounds big but it’s actually chicken feed when converted to US Dollars. Defence and security should be allocated more, 3x the amount allocated in the budget.

You are just a troll, adept at provocation but not value adding engagement. I am done with you. Go ahead and have your last provocative say, as I expect you’d.

terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 09/11/2023
Please stay on the issue and the context of my comments. Your drip drop strategy to shift the focus away from Hamas won’t jell with me.
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 09/11/2023
You are not a troll, are you? What are you riling about? Your presumption about me needing to “read some history” (ie, your superior knowledge and my presumed ignorance of it) is scary, because it’s baseless and is liable to crash.
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 09/11/2023
I get the ideal that you have outlined re unarmed civilians in war situations. I will evaluate your suggestion(s) for realizing this ideal in the complex Gaza reality with a network of tunnels, rocket launch sites embedded with civilian infrastructure, etc by Hamas. That’s the real issue.
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 08/11/2023
lol, you are changing the subject. It’s your words, to wit: “the groups you consider terrorists” that I countered sarcastically by saying the groups you don’t consider terrorists.
000
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 08/11/2023
Can you remind me, how many children were massacred on Oct.7 by the group you don’t consider terrorists? Why fixate on Israel that’s only reacting to ongoing attacks against them but not on the groups that you don’t consider terrorists whose past and present attacks are triggering Israel?
100
terna.bsky.social @terna.bsky.social · 08/11/2023
“obligation” applies to both “horrible” groups and Israel. Supposing all or most of their rockets and missiles found their intended targets without interception, what would be the situation in Israel? Yet, Israel should fight a war of survival but also avoid harming the other groups? Wow!

Well, let’s just note that, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Houthis, etc (not to mention Sabre-rattling Syria, Türkiye, Iran, Iraq, and others) are not target-shooting at Israel with flowers. Focusing only on Israel and turning on a blind eye mode to this reality isn’t helpful nor practical.
