As the House just voted to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, I'm re-upping this story for @undark.org for why that's not a great idea. Also, why where you live in a time zone may could have more impact on your health than daylight or standard time. undark.org/2024/03/11/t...

Something is awry about the way we mark time. Can research and policy changes help us reset the clocks?

And what about men who've had vasectomies? Are they too "different creatures?" So weird.

Teresa Carr @teresacarr.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
Yes, so weird. How does using contraception to circumvent a few days of monthly fertility make you less feminine or human? Is a guy who's had a vasectomy a different creature?

Teresa Carr @teresacarr.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
Such an odd description of contraception: "You can be walking around temporarily sterile, and in that sense, a different creature from someone who is fertile." Women have always found ways to circumvent 5-6 days of monthly fertility. Reliable contraception does not make you a different creature.

Wait. Subsidies are gone. I pay more than $1,100/mo for an ACA plan for just me. 35% of people supposedly pay $1000s for insurance they don't need? And, yes, a young healthy me went years without filing a claim, especially since high deductibles discourage seeking care.

As I posted, at the heart of the parable of the blind man and the elephant, there is an actual elephant. Journalism's job is to describe, as best as possible, the elephant, not amplify each limited perspective as a potential true picture of the whole.

To answer key questions about a possible link between acetaminophen and autism, I recommend this deep dive I did for @Undark in '23. Since then, a review of 46 studies found inconsistent evidence and a Swedish study of siblings (one exposed; one not) found no association. undark.org/2023/07/10/c...
