I just have my bits in an assortment of different sized bags. Some are bags inside of bags. I should really get some cups.

If it used the copy written rulebooks as a source there might be some legal ground to work with. But the law has generally not caught up to AI yet, and Copyright and AI is in such a messy gray area right now.

I have table space, but I just prefer smaller footprint games that play in under an hour. Most of what I've been working on lately play in under 20 minutes.

Bag of Holding inside a Bag of Holding seems like something that could accidentally open a doorway to somewhere. I'd start having them hear whispers from the bag, and maybe feel something strange slide past their hands if they reach in.

Got to relive a part of my childhood tonight. It's just as ridiculous a movie as I remember. But damn did I enjoy it.

Going to see a 40th anniversary screening of The Transformers: The Movie this Friday. I'm old enough to have seen it the first time in the theater. The opening shocked my five year old self, and I cried when Optimus died.

Tried this earlier. First time I've been on Arena in months. Was fun, though I only managed five games before I was out. I did not get any great pulls.

9 years ago today, I was spreading the word about Churrascaria, gearing up with the Kickstarter that would essentially start my company, @absurdistprod.bsky.social. It's been a wild 9 years. Also, I miss having all that hair.

I did the main design and plotting for this one, and wrote about 50% of the prompts on this one. Really proud of the noir vibe we managed to get and some of the cool stories people have sent us that they've ended up with after a playthrough.

Nero Wolf is some good stuff. Ellery Queen is another series I would recommend, and the TV show from the 70s is also pretty good.

Working on an expansion to my first published card game, and a series of 18 card games I'm having a lot of fun working on. Along with a pair of single deck card games. Always so many ideas and so little time.

Both of those were heavy hitters back in the day. It shocks me sometimes how much the game has changed since then.

What was the reason for the American version's name change? I'm always surprised when they feel the need to have alternate titles for books that were already published in English.

G-8 is such wacky fun. Bi-planes, evil scientists with mutated monsters and ray guns. More people need to read those classic pulps. See where so much of what folks love about comics originated.

The show was decent. The last couple of movies have all been sort of mediocre partially because they keep trying to provide answers about the xenomorphs origins. Good horror is about questions, not answers.

I get that it's hard for those who grew up with the books and movies to abandon them, but there really isn't any reason to support new content when she just continues to be an ever more vocal bigot.

Working on an expansion for the first game I ever designed/published. Churrascaria is a game about fighting over meat at a Brazilian steakhouse. The game is a lover letter to the food, this expansion is going to showcase the drinks.

Yeah, the paid preview vs unbiased review issue is just growing across industries as influencer culture grows. I think it just tends to be worse in boardgames because so much of the industry (designers, publishers, and reviewers) are essentially amateurs.

Cat tax on a lazy Sunday. My wife is consistently jealous of the fact our Shaka Khan Kitty loves me more, ignoring the fact that for every one instance of these cuddles, there are ten instances of love claws and bites.

I typically only play games with strong stories, and I almost always play on easy now. Because I have limited time and I care more about exploring and enjoying those stories.

Neither, its value should be based on the quality of the game. Not its rarity. A bad game is a bad game even if it's impossible to get, and a good game is a good game even if it's widely available in every big box store. But then I feel the same way about most art.

As good as some of the recent stuff has been, Godzilla Minus one is a excellent, I lean towards the classic films. Godzilla vs Mothra and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla are both full of cheesy amazingness. And of course Destroy All Monsters has one of the largests casts of classic Kaiju.

Value to who exactly? Reviews of indie games are valuable to the designers, the publishers, and the folks who may never otherwise have heard of the game.

Had a relatively small turnout for my workshop/game jam, but have some cool game designs being worked on. Including a satirical take on the Soviet Space program during the space race.

My friend at @mintybeans.bsky.social just launched his game on Kickstarter. Great little Hollywood-themed game with plenty of satire and just a little bit of cutthroat as you buy scripts, recruit stars, and try to produce award-winning films. www.kickstarter.com/projects/min...

It always amuses me that in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, you can become Master of the Mages Guild with essentially no magical ability. On a no-magic run where I'm just sword and bow. Finished the Mages Guild without ever learning a spell beyond the healing and little fireball you start with.

I've found Bluesky much easier to curate. So I mostly see game designers, authors, artists, and lots of furry animals on here. Though there is definitely some gloom because right now everyone is getting affected by the chaos and crap in the world.

Just picked up a copy of Candyland to use in an introduction to Game Design Workshop I'm running in a few weeks. Basically going to explain the history and mechanics of Candyland to folks, discuss some other mechanics, and then let them loose on the bits bin to create.

I really enjoy the set, but I'm also a commander player. I can definitely see issues with it in Standard and Draft just because of the number of Legendary cards, which makes it harder to use them in non-singleton formats. It's actually one reason I skipped prerelease.

As a huge fan of the old Pulps, The Shadow, The Spider, Doc Savage, etc., it's amazing to me how fast a alot of those folks wrote. Even knowing that the house names covered multiple authors, guys like Gibson, Page, and Dent were still churning out a book or two a month at times.

WOTC has started revealing more of the Star Trek set. I'm really mixed. I love Trek, I love Magic, and these LCARS framed cards look really cool. But I still don't know how i feel about Star Trek mixed with Magic.

The Oxford comma should be mandatory in most cases. It always improves clarity; there is never a downside to using it.
