I think it all started with GEICO doing “weird” insurance commercials and the other guys followed suit because well, it worked for GEICO…

I was here just a couple weeks ago. Good stuff

I definitely noticed how her music changed after the Judds broke up in ‘91. I admit I’m not very skilled at interpreting sociopolitical issues because my autism makes me see most things very literally, but I think I’m better at it than I used to be

Wy has always been a mixed bag to me, and some of her 2000s stuff had a really forced vibe that reminded me of my one biker aunt who forced Oprahisms into every conversation. That read itself is probably misguided, and I’m absolutely willing to spin this album for all the reasons you said.

I still want to know what she and her team were thinking with “Automatic”. Hands down her worst single, and this is coming from someone who would still give “Over You” an F.

TenPoundHammer @tenpoundhammer.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

“Vice” was exceptional. But most of her other songs just feel messy or unfocused. I still don’t know what “rhyme a dime until it all makes sense” or “settling up or settling down” even mean. Some of the biggest word salads I’ve seen since “Loosen Up My Strings”.

Watching two Nashville music producers roast Kid Rock’s new song on Facebook made my day.

I agree the Pistol Annies slap, but I also feel Miranda had like, two or three good solo singles at best post-2013. What happened?

I'm still very passionate about country music and want to share my opinions. I don't think I'll ever lose that passion. I just don't think Bsky is the right vehicle for it anymore, so I deleted most of my posts and will post less often in general. Again, I'll still lurk and react now and then.

Mostly same here, although I did like his debut single “There Was This Girl” too Thing I remember most is the song was at like 19 on the airplay charts before he got a Wikipedia article

My most recent Good Article on Wikipedia: Corbin/Hanner. I wonder if @countryuniverse.net knows who that even is?

There are several reasons Country Universe can be used as a source on Wikipedia and Saving Country Music can’t.

I still get thrown every time Carrie acknowledges any rock music at all. Even though I'm a touch more lenient on her, she still always felt to me like the only rock she ever touched was Christian rock. But again. Limp Bizkit?

Two of Dolly Parton’s defining hits — “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” — were perhaps written in the same day. The songs show distinctly different facets of Parton’s music and persona: the mountains and the church, the loyal partner and the independent woman, Jon Pareles writes.

Dolly Parton’s Greatest Burst of Songwriting

Two of her defining hits — “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” — were perhaps written in the same day. In different ways, they found sturdy melodies for precarious emotions.

Dolly Parton did all the good she could, for all the people she could, for as long as ever she could. From her legendary songwriting to the Imagination Library—which sent 1 million books a month to children across the country—she was the best of America. Dolly, we'll miss your great heart.

I’m purging most of my old Bsky posts because most of them are either too snarky, or me saying the same thing over and over.

Karen Brooks: "Don't say that you love me, I don't want to hear it." Me: "I love this song already." Seriously, GREAT deep cut. Love the production and vocals here. She deserved better. Texas Tornados did a great cover, too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJCg...

Should I continue writing my own reviews of every #1 country hit of (insert decade here)? I have both 1990s and 2010s partially finished but I’m debating whether the 90s are too over-covered or where I would even share the results.

It's always jarring when I look at a Wikipedia article and see a citation to an old Roughstock review of mine that I don't remember even writing in the first place. God, that was so long ago. I'd love to start writing reviews again.
