Following on from the last video, here the Thorn perry pears are being pressed. We build the next cheese while the current one is pressing. Wasps are always very interested in the pears!

2026 perry pear harvest has begun! We've picked up all of the Thorn and yesterday we moved on to picking Hellen's Early. The start of a very long harvesting road! Today, pressing has begun - pressing the Thorn perry pears. 🍐

The grass might be brown, the ground might be hard, but despite having virtually zero rain all summer, our perry pears are looking fabulous. Miraculous! 🎉 We're looking forward to harvesting these beauties very soon. Pear varieties in the photos are Blakeney Red and Winnal's Longdon.

NEW! Morgan Sweet 2025 7.4% Tiny batch: 218 bottles! Our first Morgan Sweet and we're very impressed with the apple and the resulting cider. A sparkling, dry cider that's a bright yellow/gold. Even with a low-tannin apple, we've managed to make a fairly tannic cider! It's a mystery to us too. 🙃

Case in point.... I love Yarlington Mill, but again as an aged one, this is beyond exceptional. I'd recommend everyone buy your bottles and lay them down for a couple of years!

Filling gaps in our perry pear orchard. These are 2-year-old Eyewood trees, the graftwood was from an ancient pear tree in a nearby cider orchard. A healthy tree and regular cropper, the perry keeves and is easy drinking. With 60 trees to plant, mostly Eyewood, is this the future of Dorset perry? 😉
