Unfortunately these all happened after a scratchy WIP sketch was done then they ghosted. Paypal wouldnt do a chargeback so long after purchase. Square was the worst: they fought the chargeback, said that payment constituted receipt of goods sold, and my bank accepted that vs my 40 pages of evidence.

There's no way to know whether an artist with a good track record will just take your money, and I've grown so paranoid that I barely had the confidence to submit an idea to a well-established and highly-praised artist. But there's only one good artist per hundreds of people who want to buy art.

Finding an artist with openings who won't just take your money and disappear seems to be impossible these days. About 70% of the artists I've commissioned have flaked with my money. Some of them were fantastic at first, but when i because a repeat customer they just up and quit.
