I am watching one horror movie a day (that I've never seen before but probably should have seen by now) through the October season. Oct 16 - Insidious (2010) 💀💀💀 - A solid mid-range flick. Some legit creepy visuals, some other ham-fisted moments. I appreciated all of the Poltergeist homages.

I am watching one horror movie a day (that I've never seen before but probably should have seen by now) through the October season. Oct 15 - Martin (1977) 💀💀💀💀 - Another 3.5 that I rounded up to 4. Way more interesting than I expected! Was fun to see early work from Romero and Savini.

Oct 14 - Carnival of Souls (1962) 💀💀💀💀 - Solid! Closer to 3.5 than 4 honestly, but rounding up! Strong choices and some clever cinematography (don’t watch the poorly colorized version on Tubi. I went with YT).

Almost a 2.5 skull rating. I realized near the end that I already saw this film in 1987 when Prince of Darkness was released. But this time with less atmosphere and character building. Even had the axe!

I am watching one horror movie a day (that I've never seen before but probably should have seen by now) through the October season. Oct 12 - The Host (2006) 💀💀💀 - Another movie teetering between 3 and 4 skulls. The CGI didn’t age well, but great performances and characters.

I am watching one horror movie a day (that I've never seen before but probably should have seen by now) through Oct. Oct 11 - Squirm (1976) 💀💀💀 - I vaguely remember seeing this as a young kid in the 80’s at a drive-in, but all I could remember is a moment of one scene towards the end. It was … ok!

And here I was, thinking that the Walking Dead first coined the phrase "stuff and things". (screenshot from today's film - 1976's Squirm)

Agreed! I do admit to some mild disappointment that there wasn't an authentic supernatural element to the plot and it basically boiled down to a crazy serial killer with an agenda.

I am watching one horror movie a day (that I've never seen before but probably should have seen by now) through the October season. Oct 10 - Heretic (2024) 💀💀💀 - I’d give this 3.5 skulls if I did half skulls. Not amazing, but pretty good. Like a filmed stage play.

I am watching one horror movie a day (that I've never seen before) through the October season. Oct 9 - Basket Case (1982) 💀💀💀 - I enjoyed it in a campy Rocky Horror Picture Show way, but it would have been improved with some musical numbers.

I am watching one horror movie a day for the season. It must be a movie that I haven't never seen (in its entirety). Now with 1-5 skull ratings! Oct 5 - Candyman (1992) 💀💀💀

RIP Butters. You were among the first of our chickens, and our most consistent producer. It wasn't a hawk or a fox that got you - just a long, productive, adventurous life. May 2022 - Oct 2026.

Daily Poe sounds like something everyone should be doing. How did your movie challenge go when you tried it?

My personal list of top 10 horror movies from the 1970's. The movies in this list are ranked by personal notoriety and importance, and not necessarily by quality of film.

I was born in 1969. I worked in haunted houses for most of my teens and some of my twenties. I owned Savini's Grande Illusions, and for a time, my best friend and I wanted to pursue careers in SFX. How did I escape the 80's without seeing TTCSM? That's a damn good question.

October is here! And that means lots and lots and lots of horror movies. I technically started in September, but they were pretty random. Official viewing list started today with a very surprising never-before-watched classic - 1974's Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Woke up to a third of our biggest maple split and sprawled out across the yard (due to a tiny but severe squall that blew through early in the morning). And in the afternoon (long story), we lost one of our chickens to a hawk. The rooster and geese did their best to rescue her. RIP Big Mama.

As predicted, the tweaks are a'happenin'. Round one involved - revising the realm flags, - figuring out the names of the major houses/clans/families in each realm, - determining the crest/totem for each of those, - adding them to the maps. I need a hobby. Oh, wait. #dnd #rpg #worldbuilding #maps

I'll be tweaking these until the end of time (or at least until I grow tired of them and start on another set), but the eleven realms are 'complete'! #dnd #rpg #mapping #worldbuilding

The problem with large mapping projects is that, over time, you develop new, better methods for doing things. Which means, if you want consistency, you have to go back and remake the first few maps. So that's what I did. Four down, seven to go. #dnd #rpg #worldbuilding #maps
