like my mom is doing things that you only see from trans women who transitioned in their 30s or 40s only to become the most powerful goth in their neighborhood. I saw her for the first time in like 10 years back in 2024 and her outfit was essentially this. This was outside of a Wendys.

it's like a gazing globe. you are technically looking at the thing itself but much of your focus is on the light reflecting and the space around it that you can see on the surface. this person is turned into a canvas for the mag's pervert obsession with them. it could be anyone. a mannequin really.

i had to speed past the mural to make it to the show but it is absolutely something i'm coming back for. they had a Louise Despont one up somewhere last time i had visited and that was truly special. i love the location of the Raqib Shaw mural. the sight of it was gorgeous in the late afternoon.

I think the Rain Paintings are truly incredible, but specifically when viewed in context. I imagine these are works that feel really great to make. The experience is the important part and the image is a remnant of that. I truly have always wanted to spend time just sitting in this room. (2/2)

In 2025 I made a bunch of paintings during one of the brokest periods of my life. I havent really painted since then, but it is always on my mind. Life has been very busy. Ive been writing a lot and preparing for when im caught up on furry smut commissions and i can pick up my brush again.

It immediately brings to mind the way Yoshitomo Nara's bronzes all have this quality that feels like the hum of an amp, absent of any actual instruments being played. The moment before a live performance. (for those unfamiliar, Nara is BIG into punk music. It's a huge part of his art)

One thing i remember being really into in college, as we did have a few works of Mondrian's at the free museum attached to the school, was how much more gorgeous they got with age. The way the flat areas of paint crackled over time gives them this gentle hum I'm really into.

If you're in Chicago for MFF this year I really recommend hopping on the Blue Line to Logan Square and hitting up Bric-a-Brac Records. Good selection of music, movies, and vintage toys. Right next to an incredible horror cafe that has a bunch of rare Goosebumps merch on display.
