Great, now they're going to be singing "where have all the ICE pigs gone?" in 20 years (because of global warming)
Two ice sculptures of piglets. One is sitting and smiling. One is standing and serious.

The unsigned, unexplained administrative stay to revive ICE jackboot tactics. I dont care if it's the procedural norm for administrative stays- it's normatively fucked. Fash rely on procedural formality and strategic opacity to avoid accountability, while the courts pretend temporary = harmless
Unsigned ruling from the 8th circuit court of appeals reading, "the motion for an administrative stay of the preliminary injunction issued by the district Court pending the Court's consideration of the Government's motion for a stay pending appeal is granted."

Because this is wild, and the schedule suggests it's not just two sensors malfunctioning at the same time twice a day for a few days
A chart labeled US EPA PM2.5 AQI , 10 minute average, from PurpleAir.com.
The is labeled vertically from 0 to 1500 on the left, and lists dates from November 20th through the 22nd along the bottom.
It tracks PM 2.5 levels from two sensors at Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek, Iowa and shows steep, extreme peaks four times before listing the current PM 2.5 levels at a dangerous 62.6 microns per cubic meter. This level is at the bottom of one of the peaks, which go above 1000 microns per cubic meter. The same chart as the previous image, with the most recent peak selected. It shows that Hitchcock Nature Center's A sensor measured PM 2.5 levels at 1155 microns per cubic meter at 7:40 AM on Friday, November 22nd, 2024.

The EPA limits PM 2.5 to 9 microns per cubic meter.

The EPA's air quality standard limits PM2.5 to 9 µg/m3. WHO guidelines are 5 µg/m3 annually, not to exceed 15 µg/m3 more than 3-4 days a year. North Omaha, our historically reclined district and home to a subbitiminous coal plant, is currently at 39.26 µg/m3
The Weather Channel page for Omaha, Nebraska, listing the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 110. The primary pollutant is PM 2.5, at the full 110 AQI, which equates to 39.26 micrograms per cubic meter.

This mailer is honestly the most competent campaigning I've seen in 20 years of voting A Harris Whitehouse can't get anything done with a Republican congress, and I can't deal with a christofascist homeschooler running the board of education & fucking over the kids in my neighborhood
Photo of a voter registration form, a pre-addressed, paid envelope to mail the form to my county election commission, and a letter from the Kamala Harris campaign urging me to "register to vote now"

This town is so cooked
Facebook post from the City Government of Aberdeen, Washington, on Julu 1st reading, "The Aberdeen City Council would like to hear from you regarding the removal of fluoride from the city's drinking water.
Please take a short survey here on fluoride removal. The survey is open from July 1-July 31.
The City Council will make a decision in October. "

The images are just of the statute, but I went to former Aberdeen City Council President Kacey Ann Morrison's FB page while trying to find more info, and dang she hates homeless people. It's kind of shocking how much contempt she holds for people struggling to get by

Why, in the name of colonialism, does the Omaha city budget still open with "According to Indian legend"? Would be bad if they were describing an actual legend, but absolutely baffling when they just mean "translation" finance.cityofomaha.org/images/Finan...
Screenshot of the following text : According to Indian
legend, the name means "upstream" or "against the current".

Colonialist, racist bullshit

There's a framework called "he spectrum of allies" The idea is that you can reliably move people one step in your direction. In this case, you get people who are actively working against you to passively disapprove, passive to neutral, and so on. These shifts eventually rob opps of their base
White background with black, handwritten text labeled "spectrum of allies". It's a semicircle divided into 5 wedges: active opposition, passive opposition, neutral, passive allies, and active allies. There are arrows moving each wedge one position from the opposition side to the support side.

A still from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia with Mac wearing a maga hat while saying, "some say it's better than guzzling horse cum."

Dennis stops him, hand on his shoulder, "well, hold on. The couch thing was light and playful, believable even. You just made it weird."

They keep doing the thing where they try to mimic what normal people do, but these freaks can't get the vibe right.

Like, remember the kid growing up who always took the joke too far, always hit too hard while playing? That kid grew up to become a maga perv.

It's played out by now, but these people remain deeply, irreparably weird.

Went to google scholar, and it seems mixed. Some studies indicate PTSD is more likely to develop and more pronounced in narcissists, some indicate that it can have a moderating affect, and some indicate that vulnerable narcissism makes PTSD more likely but grandiose narcissism does not.
Conclusion: The findings underscore the role of intra-personal resources in the immediate psychological aftermath of war by highlighting the increased risk associated with narcissistic personality features. Theoretical and clinical implications of the findings are discussed.Over half of the sample endorsed symptoms that were above the cutoff for a clinical concern for PTSD, and PTSD symptoms were significantly associated with symptoms of both vulnerable narcissism and grandiose narcissism.Narcissism was found to moderate the relationship between PTG and PTSD symptoms. For individuals scoring low in narcissism there is no to negative correlation between PTG and PTSD symptoms. In contrast, for individuals high in narcissism there is a positive correlation between these two variables. The moderating effect of narcissism was found to operate through self-deception processes. Self-deception was related to PTG in individuals scoring high on narcissism and not in low-scoring individuals. When dimensions of narcissism features were examined as separate predictors of PTSD, vulnerable but not grandiose narcissism features was found to have a significant effect.

but maybe also they don't want to change Title 8 and instead rely on a vibes based policy?

documents are generally exempt under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA)."

Scout Walz 😭💗
Tweet from Tim Walz, "Texts from my wife. This damn dog," with an image of a series of three texts:
"Scout locked himself in our bedroom somehow. There is no key etc. I am going to head home in a little bit." Gov Walz responded to this one with a question mark reaction.
"The are going to have to try to go in through a window."
And finally, "They are getting ladders."

The tweet is from October 25, 2023A photo of the scout rescue operation featuring a man on a ladder opening a second story window while two other men look from below.Scout peaking out from behind a cracked door. He's black with the whitest teeth and the pinkest tongue, and he is thrilled. What a little stinker. He had so much fun on his own but is happy to see you again

We need to dig up some dirt on this guy quickly because between the records and the maps and the support of queer kids and the general vibe, I'm going to spend the next three months waiting for Lucy to take away the football. He's unreal

Comic with two panels bisected horizontally. The top left says, "know the work rules." Both panels feature a woman sitting at a desk in an office cubicle. She's labeled with an American flag.
In the top panel, labeled, "appropriate," Governor Tim Walz approaches the woman, saying, "Nothing better than getting my day started with some One Minnesota Diet Mountain Dews." The woman/stand-in for the American public has a heart next to her as she swoons, "aww, you're sweet."
In the bottom panel, labeled "inappropriate," JD Vance approaches, saying, "I had a Diet Mountain Dew yesterday and one today. I'm sure they're going to call that racist, too." The woman calls human resources in a panic.

Fuck JD Vance. All my homies want Tim Walz

Simpsons meme format where a sign is strategically covered in photos to change the words to "do it for her," with pictures of Minnesota lieutenant governor Peggy Flanagan.
If Kamala Harris wins, and Tim Walz becomes the Vice President, Flanagan will be the first indigenous woman governor in US history!
She's a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe.

She looks genuinely concerned?
A tweet from JK Rowling (gross) with a photo of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif patting her Italian opponent, who forfeited because she "felt a strong pain in [her] nose", on the back and looking at her the way you look at a friend having a breakdown that you're not equipped to help them through. The Italian boxer isn't bleeding or red or bruised. She doesn't show any signs of physical damage, only emotional distress.
Rowling's text reads, "Could any picture sum up our new men’s rights movement better? The smirk of a male who’s knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered. #Paris20204"

Immaterial, but I boxed for years as a female lightweight/super featherweight. I've never seen anybody forfeit who looked this clean or unsweaty without a major medical issue. It would be weird to see at some amateur competition in West Texas, but at the Olympics is jarring.

Yes, exactly what homeless people need
A screenshot from Buddha Maltraya website. The banner has their logo, an ornamental star of david, an name with "helping the needy of omaha" below.
Underneath it says, "the support we provide in this area of focus includes the following: meditation/blessing music on MP3 players, Etheric weaver crystal/magnetic pendants, prayer/blessing cards/bibles, and meditation: an invitation to come to the Soul Therapy Center to meditate"The back of a white van that says "Buddha Maitreya the reincarnation of Jesus the Christ, Helping the homeless of Omaha, the church of Shambhala Vajradhara Maitreya Sangha Jesus Crist Soul Therpay," followed by their contact information. There is a massive photo from the chest up of a discomforting white man with a light brown beard, yellow silk shirt, and some kind of catholic-adjacent red necklace that looks like a red circle with a gold rim and gold cross jutting out the top.
On the van's bumper are two stickers: "straight pride" and "there are only two genders".
The license plate numbers are crossed out of the photo, but you can see that the plates are tax exampt.
Jesus the 501(c)3 Christ indeed

lol Nebraska Senator P. Ricketts has chat GPT draft his email replies
An email from Senator Pete Ricketts that begins, "Thank you for contacting my office regarding perfluoroalkyl and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

PFAS are man-made chemicals that have been used in industry and consumer products worldwide since the 1940s. During production and use, PFAS can migrate into the soil, water, and air. Most PFAS do not break down, so they remain in the environment. Because of their widespread use and their persistence in the environment, many PFAS are found in the blood of people and animals all over the world and are present at low levels in a variety of food products and in the environment. Many scientific articles have been published about PFAS exposure and health effects. New kinds of PFAS are being developed. Some of these may have properties similar to the existing PFAS, and some may be less persistent in the environment.

While it is difficult to show that substances directly cause health conditions in humans, scientific studies have shown..."

The justices sound like the oldest people I've ever met. I looked up their photo, and they're all just middle-aged white people (in a population that's 22% nonwhite) Voices that match the age of the politics
Seven of the whitest people you've ever seen.
From left to right, standing: Date rape lacrosse player, racist soccer mom, DUI Dad, child abuse uncle. Sitting: neighbor who calls the cops when she sees a black friend go to your house, grandpa who says "colored", history teacher who gives all the football players As

The "me explaining to my mom" meme. It's two panels. On the left is a young woman crying and holding her hands up like she's in the middle of making an important point. On the left is a slightly older woman sitting on a sofa with a blanket pulled up to her chin looking towards the younger woman dispassionately.

Unhinged, out of touch, professor-brained comment. I've literally never met a homeless person who doesn't appreciate being comfy cozy. She's assuming (some) homeless people are completely feral. They're not.
“Some sleep on the floor because they’re not able to live in the space,” she said.

I can't believe I went my whole life without knowing that Penn State's mascot is a child's drawing of a bear. I love him so much.
A photo of a person in a mascot costume with out-of-focus college students in the background. The mascot is called the Nittany Lion, but it looks like a back alley Build-a-Bear. The costume is a furry light brown. The hood-ends of the head drape over the shoulders of the mascot. The head itself looks like a crude drawing of a bear with four razor-sharp teeth. The sleeves of the costume are loose around the wrists, capped by gloves with white palms. The bear-lion is wearing a striped scarf to indicate he knows about clothing but makes a conscious choice not to wear any.An image of the same bear-lion described in the previous photo doing "the pony" dance on a football field for his adoring fans. This is a full-body picture, so you can see he's wearing regular black athletic shoes. Further evidence he's aware of clothing but simply refuses to don any.
