Many thanks to Gridfuse and Ferdi for hosting my talk at the Leipzig Software Crafter meetup! And thanks to those who came out despite the heat. It was a luxury for me to not only have time for my talk, but answer all the great questions, which is why I love giving talks live!
My mediocre attempt at a selfie with me in the front and attendees at the Leipzig meetup waving at the camera behind me. (one of two pics)This time I'm actually smiling in the selfie with more folks waving at the camera from the Leipzig meetup.

Goodbye Belgium, I enjoyed your hospitality, chocolate, fries (and bike lanes) very much! Tomorrow I head to #SoCraTesUK!
A selfie during our bike tour, learning about the history of Belgium (good and really bad) while visiting the Arc du Cinquantenaire (behind me is the huge 3 part arc where at the top a "bronze sculpture shows a woman riding a chariot pulled by four horses and waving a flag")On a coffee (cappuccino) break during the bike tour of Brussels, this is a picture of the table with my "JitterTed's TDD Game" baseball hat next to the (excellent) cappuccino and a cookie (biscuit).Picture of Belgian Fries topped with parmesan, garlic, and a pesto sauce (yummy) next to a glass of strawberry-mint flavored water (also good) from Frites Atelier in Brussels.

You've got 25 minute to eat, and then you have to leave for 5 minutes before eating again... (yes, this is another terrible joke, I have no idea if this restaurant is any good or has any timing requirements on eating...)
A restaurant in Frankfurt, Germany, with its name "Pomodoro" in red script on a pink background above the windows.

The joke is a play on the use of the term "Pomodoro" as a time-management technique (coined by Francesco Cirillo), where you break your work into 25-minute increments, and then take a 5-minute break.

Still not sorry.

More folks having fun with JitterTed's TDD Game! (Thanks to Arthur for facilitating!) And—again—new rule variations were invented! It makes me so happy to see how people play the game, seeing how it relates to their real work, and putting that experience back in the game.
Two of the players with Ted (creator) and Arthur (facilitator) smiling at the camera, after another fun round of JitterTed's TDD Game at the JCON Europe Mentorship Hub table. It's almost here! My 20-minute Ted Talk on "Testable Architecture" will be on Wednesday, 22 April, at 12:55 in Cinema 6. (Depending on my jet lag, I could be super-caffeinated Ted, aka JitterTed, so I'd be done in 5 minutes 😂) Here's the schedule: schedule.jcon.one/2026/?day=2...

Timefold will try to solve for the (hard) constraints, but if it can't find a solution, it will at least give you a solution (instead of just giving up). You can then go back to the business—maybe they need to hire folks, or maybe relax a constraint. #DevoxxUK @tomcools.be

There's a built-in assumption here around what "testing" means...

• Requires development effort
• Difficult to outsource
• Engineers would rather be writing code
• Engineers are human
• Humans are not good/disciplined/fast at doing things they don't want to do
