oh of course google made tenor available in their own apps, as if they're trying desperately hard to copy how apple wall-gardens everything, but google is taking existing services and making them google only

and now here's a side by side comparison on tenor v. giphy the reason why i hate giphy is because it shows irreverent gifs, such as for the "get rotated" meme

230 3

TechnologicalByte @technologicalbyte.com · 07/07/2026

welp, it took google 6 days to finally pull the plug on tenor's api thankfully alternatives like klipy is being used on discord, etc while microsoft decided to fall back to using giphy on windows 11 why cant microsoft use klipy than giphy that we all hate

so.. windows 11 will allow you to change taskbar positions, officially windows 11 will allow you to have a smaller taskbar, officially (NOT just the icons) all of this without using windhawk. glad to see it come, finally.

can software devs like.... stop relying on Microsoft's WebView2 and/or Electron to build your apps why cant you just build your apps using desktop-class libraries rather than relying on a web wrapper, thus giving chrome the spotlight as it continues to dominate the web browser industry

TechnologicalByte @technologicalbyte.com · 29/04/2026

not sure who's great idea it was to develop windows 11 core-apps using WebView2 of all things let that sink in, WebView (and Electron) are just web wrappers disguised as a "native app" but still, this is a step in the right direction

TechnologicalByte @technologicalbyte.com · 21/03/2026

so the folks working on Windows will soon bring back a feature that's been the norm since Windows 95, the ability to reposition your taskbar. ..despite early builds of Windows 11 allowed you to do that via the registry. (though putting it to the side on this build, crashes explorer.)

So Windows Me is 25 years old today huh? Too bad I haven't experienced Millennium Edition myself (as my first OS I used was 2000 and moved to XP years later), this should be a great excuse to finally work on a Windows Me related video instead of it sitting on the backburner for months.
