TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 27/08/2026My fav game designer of all time Matt Colville put it best. “Originality is measured by the obscurity of your references.” If something feels original, it’s more likely you just aren’t familiar with the materials that inspired them. 050

TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026🫡 Thank you for doing your part and making open source programs more usable! 🫡 121
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026I am using gdextension, just minimally as a shim/FFI so GDScript can call my game's core rules. Essentially the same way python uses numpy. I do have to use a little `unsafe`, but just as a treat. 110
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Day 2 of Rebuilding Chess 3 in Godot. What happens when you make your game too musical. 010
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026I loved python when I was just learning programming and needed it to "just work". The batteries included nature of it is hard to beat when you just need a prototype. Now that I'm deep in it, I see the weaknesses and flaws. 020
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Rust is really great for performance, safety, and forcing you to consider architecture. I wouldn't use anything else to manage the game state. 110
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026I thought about it, but being able to monkey in gdscript and see the updates live without a full recompile was seemed too ergonomic for me to consider otherwise. 110
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Yeah I looked at this. Seemed, significantly less ergonomic than just using gdScript when my project was already split cleanly between game engine and UI land. 110
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Yep! Though I built my game with separate UI and game engine crates to cut down on compile time, so there's no reason for me to use the rust bindings on the frontend. 000
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 22/08/2026I was building in macroquad and wanted to add a some juice and game feel. I did that for some piece animations to generate some good feeling movement profiles, but I had to build a custom UI to do it. Godot's ability to export values was way easier. Backend is still Rust. That and compile times. 110
TeamTwoStudios @teamtwostudios.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Process of migrating my UI from Rust's Macroquad to Godot. I can't believe how easy it is to add juice! 140
