Very interesting read, thank you for sharing. It feels odd to hear how such an influential person in the genre is struggling but it does go to show the state of the game industry and even genre itself. Loved the game, even more than Long Live the Queen.

Greetings everyone. You may think the time for spooky #VisualNovels like Sacrifice For Sale is over now that October has passed, but I would advise to keep a close eye out, in the next weeks. =)

I dont think thats a risk with Steam, though they do show your full name.

010

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 04/01/2025

For us it wasn't really worth it so we just used personal information. However this is definitely risky and should really only be done if there is a lot of trust and transparency in the team.

Demand and Supply, unfortunately...

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

A quick cheat could be to just add a white(or other high contrast) outline around the letters, thats what we did with Sacrifice For Sale's Logo to ensue it looks good and readable in all environments.

Well generally we all just sit there for accountability while we get work done. Occasionally we talk about what we are currently working on, ask for advice, share our experiences or just do general socialising. Its basically the water-cooler of the server in many ways.

000

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

No pressure of course. But you can also join, mute yourself and communicate through the chat, we got a whole bunch of people who do that too. =D

Heya, I see you on DevTalk pretty often. If you wanna meet and socialise more with other devs feel free to join us in the work stream. =D Promise we don't bite there.

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

You know it is only now that the irony of this occurs to me. Sacrifice For Sale is currently the only item not on Sale during the Be a Hero event. You cant make this stuff up.

020

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

Which again, that is insane that we are in the same sale as @twoandahalfstudios.com 's A Date with Death. Genuinely insane to me, that our game shows up anywhere near the same section.

110

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

#GameDev ing can be a roller-coaster sometimes. So amazingly we somehow got into the Be a Hero Sale! =D If any of you are interested in buying Sacrifice For Sale, hold off for just a little bit, as right now the discount isn't working, for some reason. AAHH! store.steampowered.com/curator/4506...

Initially I was going to ignore the Steam awards, because it's not relevant for indie games. But then, people nominated Sacrifice For Sale for a variety of categories in it. The fact that people appreciate our game this much means the world to us! <3 Seriously you people are awesome!

Greetings may we join? We made Sacrifice For Sale! =D

000

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 29/11/2024

Yep, the fact you can so easily accomplish things and immediately see the fruits of your labour makes it an amazingly satisfying experience. Only thing better is when playtesters play the game for the first time, and you see them having fun. =)

010

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 29/11/2024

As in playing or making the game? Honestly I might agree either way.

010

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 29/11/2024

Good on you, multiple routes and stuff like that is a pain to write and honestly can sometimes lead to the overall lesser quality of the main story. A bit of a quantity vs quality situation.

110

Sacrifice For Sale @teamiota.bsky.social · 29/11/2024

Isn't the change within this context a reward? Or are undesirable changes(punishments) also included in this model?

I love listening to video game osts, not only is it a great source of inspiration but also, I can always listen for good pieces to steal for my ttrpg sessions. Hehehe....

It kinda matters a lot for marketing. Good names can catch peoples interest, not to mention it can communicate the selling point or core fantasy of your game to your target audience.
