You should check out Mike’s interview with Rick Rubin. There’s talk about them wanting to do “the long gig” and locking the venue doors on the outside. Pretty sure they also had Porto’s on or side or backstage at Cypress. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

I struggle to imagine the futures-that-could-have-been of Janis Joplin, Keith Moon and John Bonham.

I could see Hendrix going the Dylan route…never stop creating, constantly reimagining the sound of his catalogue and covers, and unending touring.

Anylist app does most of the same things (don’t think you can change the order of categories) but is free and can connect to some online shopping services for pickup and delivery!

That’s crazy! With the Mr Fusion?!?!?

I watched BTTF I and II last week for the umpteenth time. Seeing them play that song as part of a retro run after a rewatch is a bit of a mindf*ck.

I always enjoy bands with two drummers.

FWIW, we hired a string quartet for our wedding in Austin in ‘22. They charged us $80 for a custom arrangement of Shade which we used in our ceremony. It was totally worth it.

As they wrapped that Disease reprise, I said out loud “No, why did you stop?” and then they went back into Tweezer. Love this

“David Bowie” by Phish does it for *two* artists…and they’re playing it right now at MSG!

Re:Phish this weekend FT/S: 4x3-day DC passes (section 104 row N) Friend of 25 years died in a car accident on Friday and funeral is tomorrow in NJ. Wife and I still want to go with my brother and sister-in-law on Sunday. Hope we can make this work. Love your people, nothing is ever guaranteed.

Going there in a few weeks for the first time. Send any food/live music recs

teachntunes.bsky.social @teachntunes.bsky.social · 22/05/2026

Good serendipity. A close show-going friend went to Roo ‘08 and said it’s where I needed to be. I’d seen Bruce earlier in the year and was stoked to see him again. Phish had been in my ears for 6 years but never had a chance to see them, and had been convince by phans that I needed to go. I was sold

Still can’t believe how immersive and organic it was

020

teachntunes.bsky.social @teachntunes.bsky.social · 07/05/2026

I was there too. The Beastie Boys show was a party, and that night also happened to be my first Phish show…absolutely changed the course of my life.

Felt the same in person. My wife and I just went “Why?”

First half of the first of six sets over the weekend…I think they’re warming up the audience and then will burn it down.

110

I hope the seats are rumbling for this one

030

teachntunes.bsky.social @teachntunes.bsky.social · 28/04/2026

Also FWIW, on N4, we got $32 obstructed tix when we landed after showtime, and found 2 open seats next to friends in 204, catching the last hr. I imagine there will be people trying to dump tix at the last minute, but I’d play it safe and snag the first “good” deal you can. Anything but obstructed.

010

teachntunes.bsky.social @teachntunes.bsky.social · 28/04/2026

FWIW, tix for N5 got more expensive on StubHub as the week progressed

Can it be considered a three-drummer combo with Marc on percussion?

Wife and I have dived into the Christopher Guest mockumentaties in order since she died. We watched A Might Wind last weekend. So much fun

Highly recommend Carl Hiaasen for some irreverent Florida shenanigans. I also am reading Project Hail Mary in prep of what seems to be a great film and am loving it.

Commercials with parodies of pop songs that include the original artists (Bon Jovi, Backstreet Boys)…is this a common or new thing?

001

teachntunes.bsky.social @teachntunes.bsky.social · 08/02/2026

It had me laughing out loud…and very sad upset about Rob Reiner. Wife and I watched Waiting for Guffman last night to start the Catherine O’Hara tribute of those films. So much fun

Lots of actual LOL moments. I also love his relationship with Anne…so much mutual adoration there. His morning routine had me cackling.

I also don’t love Christmas music. However, I saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones on Friday night where they played a lot from this album. The creativity really hit the spot. 12 Days of Christmas in the 12 chromatic keys AND 12 different time signatures?!? Count me in! open.spotify.com/album/2W76N8...

I imagine hearing anyone else’s interpretations of the voices of Calvin, Hobbes, his parents, Susie, Moe, Miss Wormwood, Spaceman Spiff, etc. would do irreparable damage to my soul. Stay strong Mr. Watterson! @calvin.cowtools.org

Someone I follow here was posting a pic a day from their recent trip to Japan. Stupidly I didn’t like or save any of the posts. Was it any of you or do you know who it was? Wife and I are going next week and finalizing our must-do’s. Also open to any top notch recs for Tokyo or Kyoto.

I have a friend who says they use something like this. They read in bed with their kindle on their nightstand and use a remote to flip. I was too flabbergasted to follow up with questions about only reading on their side and font size. To each their own I guess?

My wife can relate. She’s found Sawyer Picaridin lotion and Thermacell rechargeable repellents with cartridges to be the best non-deet options.
