Do people not find the joy of writing their own scholarship? The passion to explore a subject matter is what makes AI use for drafting an article a none problem for me, because I don't need it. (And my research area is in the intersection of AI and legal issues)

If people would like to get a fresh take on AI, I also highly recommend the following two Japanese anime series: Psycho-Pass and Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song. I might do a quick, mini write up on those two series, but one word of warning, there are significant depicted violence in both titles.

Using a GPU can easily brute force poorly formed passwords. Passkeys or public/private key pair arrangements + passwords are the norm for securing information systems.

I go to my libraries and borrow a lot of well crafted entertainment and art, which, in turn, ensures that our library system usage is contributed and future funding of the system is steady. Hopefully, this doesn't come across non sequitur.

It's been a while since I checked, but I am surprised that the government could trace a Freenet user's IP address, given that the premise of that network is anonymity.

Given that most consumer computer products collect and share location-based telemetry from the operating system or other software developers (e.g., Microsoft Windows 11), I see the distinction between a smartphone and a modern computer as challenging under current Fourth Amendment jurisprudence.

The fact that both Sony and Microsoft is delaying their next gen consoles tells me that the tsunami of rise in (chip) prices may make the return on investment for subsidizing equipment unrealistic at this time. This, in turn, hurts us consumers . . . .

No disagreement on wanting to have the Steam Machine priced at an affordable range. My gut feeling is telling me that the tariffs (currently 20% on chips!) and the supply constraints on memory (due to AI data centers) might have been too much even for Valve to subsidize reasonably.

I disagree. The 30% cut they get from game sales on Steam, in part, likely funds infrastructure and platform maintenance costs to allow users access to their purchased games (theoretically) in perpetually without additional charge. Valve's true profit margins are likely lower than what we speculate.
