Trump has created an American version of the Dolchstosslegende, propagating a myth that the US was being led to ruin by Joe Biden, prosecutors who go after Trump, judges who rule against him, news media, and universities. This stabbed-in-the-back lie is at the core of Trump’s assaults on democracy.
