historical war films doing modern CQC (“slicing the pie”) and other things that only exist thanks to modern tactics+weaponry. anything where like a WW1 soldier is leaning around corners and watching angles is absurd nonsense 1917 was great but was really bad for this

this is just the same sort of thing that leads people to talk at length about how “cable street defeated Mosley”, a statement that doesn’t make a lick of sense on any particular level yet is surprisingly common

my first year there were 1st years from the same county area who were actively refused accommodation (forced to stay at home and commute) because they just had too many 1st year students, particularly overseas, who needed accommodation

not a requirement in my experience but it’s common to move out after year 1 (tho there’s also a facet that unis have become increasingly greedy and willing to bulk up with as many students as possible every single year for more money, so there’s just less available and 1 year always priority)

even accepting that his statement is enough there’s a pretty huge issue here!

ultimately any mention of how Good his response is must grapple with this fact. it could be the best response ever to your past actions being uncovered but it rings a bit hollow if you’re not sharing it to the place where 96% of your audience follows you

like idk guys do we not think it’s weird that the “I’m sorry for my actions and take full accountability” post was done on his Bluesky (60k followers) and not his YouTube (1.51 million) or his patreon (~£5k a month)

Jacob Geller discourse about if “hes atoned for it” or whatever is striking me as odd when hes decidedly not posted anything about it to his YouTube channel or his patreon. kinda seems like he’s trying to get away with the bare minimum response that keeps his fanbase and patreon!

Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

(my actual idea of how to punish Man City is to take so many points they get put in points debt. they get relegated this year, then whenever they return they will have so many points deducted to guarantee relegation, and then by the third go around there’s still gonna be points to deduct)

lot of ideas about how to punish Man City but I think it should include a mandatory reedit of Ted Lasso that deletes every bit of wank of Man City and Pep and replaces it with an apology

most philosophically interesting bit of that movie still the suicide bomb robot where the first one has a implication of being just a veneer of AI on something programmed to kill children, raises questions about abstracting decisions to AI! the film does nothing with this

I think more just coincidence as Gareth Edwards is pretty clearly atrocious at writing stories, and his love of VFX will naturally lead him to be drawn to whatever allows him to show off his (impressive) VFX abilities

a good example of this is polls that showed people saying their state’s economy was good, but the national economy was bad as a whole. it’s really hard to explain that any way other than the information environment

It was probably a bad idea for Severance S2 to ship a ton of crew to Newfoundland and import ice to create snow, solely so that one of the executive producers could get her own special episode. they probably should not have done that

I don’t recall who originated it but I’m a firm believer in the theory that everything Trump does can be understood as a form of rape. Tariffs? Rape. Greenland and Canada? Rape. ICE deployments? Rape. He loves rape so much he cannot conceive of equal exchange/mutual benefit. You give and he takes.

question I have: assuming the “he’s helping vulnerable relatives” defence they’ve trotted out is vaguely true, how much is he charging them in rent? and is that rent being paid by them, or billed to a UC/housing benefit claim? bcos if it’s the latter then things could be really ugly here

the rescue purposes I can at least see as a sort of pure first responder situation (deploy a highly trained person to the site to immediately treat injuries/locate the lost hiker) but I just don’t see a real military utility, these are all pure stunts
1210
Tony Blair/Weird Al Guilt Project @tbwagp.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
I remain unconvinced as to their utility in this role given they’re really just outcompeting a helicopter and a boat, both of which have the advantage of being able to shoot back effectively whilst on approach and providing a modicum of cover against oncoming bullets

Of potential interest to journalists digging into Orr post-FT story: the owner of the fascist bookshop that sells Hitler speeches, niche fascist books about mass murder, including Siege, personally thanks the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation for donating Scruton’s books, of which Orr is a director
I have found the time to re-arrange part of the library of the late, great Sir Roger Scruton, kindly donated to Oldspeak Bookshop by his estate.

These shelves hold the very books that shaped one of the 20th century's most profound conservative thinkers: philosophy, beauty, tradition, architecture, and so much more.

Come visit the shop in Long Melford and see what made him tick.

All welcome -conservatives, curious minds, and anyone who values truth and beauty. @Roger_Scruton @Scruton_Legacy #ConservativeBooks #Philosophy #TraditionThe connections have provided vital funding for his own initiatives. Ever since Scruton's death, his influence has been central to Orr's project. Orr is a director at the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation (RSLF) and, in early 2022, established an invitation-only discussion group for conservative Christian students in Scruton's honour.

think the absolute funniest bit is the plot twist that the 500k is for vetting: ie “we need illegal donations to check if our candidates have posted support for Hitler in the last 36 hours”
