"Black nurses could work only in Black hospitals, and in the late 1920s, America registered 210 Black hospitals, compared with 6,807 white ones." With disparities this dramatic, it's no wonder many had doubts about hospitals, but dedicated advocates like Edna show how to meet people where they're at
