Auto-installing your LLM skills or MCP server is the new Internet Explorer browser bar stack. Knock it off.

Versioning, determinism, security etc are unsurprisingly not concerns for this organization.

The "SOTA" acronym is really starting to get to me. It's not even good jargon. Arguably, "frontier" is interesting and sorta qualifying. But saying something is "state of the art" _and_ using an acronym... you're telling on yourself.

Oh. Or I take something apart. An old smart home trinket. A broken lamp. A dryer. And invariably decide to buy a tool 😬

tbeseda @tbeseda.com · 06/07/2026
I go look at the stupid amount of tools I own and try to remember why I bought them and then do that thing. ie. last Saturday, "Why do I have a rivnut tool?" Oh yeah, I can fix how door cards are secured in the old pickup. Spend 2 hours on trial/error - tada!

I know a little about all these things, but not enough about any one of them. Could an existing business with a similar model expand or invest (heh, imagine retail having enough liquidity in 2026 to invest...)? How does something get motion? The upstart is steep. Grit, I guess.

There's a 3-bay mechanic shop going up for sale in my small mtn town. I think it'd make a killer fly fishing + bike shop (summer) and ski/rental shop (winter). Right on the main road. Across from the reservoir/river. Put a coffee+taco truck in the lot...

Weird mountain town thing in 2026: be in hardware store, several phones ding with an ominous notification sound, look at each other, "that's downwind from here," relief. Wildfire weather.

Couldn't find an #opencode plugin for native system notifications that I liked, so I whipped one up to use OSC 9 sequences. Works in my favorite terminal, #Ghostty but should be fine in iTerm2, Wez, even Warp. github.com/tbeseda/openco…

On the back of AI hype train someone should reboot Rdio. Shove some LLM story in there to get the funding and build the music streaming app we all deserve. Apple Music just queued up Nirvana and Black Sabbath when I started an _Arctic Monkeys_ radio station. I love those bands! But this is aint it.

Ken built a dog adoption app where you skip the filters & toggles and just type "fluffy, will love the stray kittens, won't destroy my small apartment." Sanity Agent Context does the rest. www.sanity.io/blog/better-...

And Paul Cauthen is really unique. A voice like Cash and swagger like Elvis. With a life story to match both. His music reflects that and I'm a fan of the way Book of Paul comes together. music.apple.com/us/album/book-…

That looks nice! I've been getting spoiled by the multiline interaction in opencode. It even accounts for pressing up or down on the first or last line of an entry going to the previous or next entry like flipping through shell history.

Most of what happens in a given software ecosystem revolves around a core group of authors. Not necessarily the main committers to a platform, but the contributions downstream from those changes. The same names pop up a lot. That's the stuff worth following and learning from IMO.

You build for a VC-backed SaaS (like me!), should you not try to get good standing inside models? Of course you should! But you can also create detailed, small, sharp tools that can be effectively leveraged by the agents using the model. Work for your customer, not their AI provider.

tbeseda @tbeseda.com · 05/03/2026
The incentives are bad, though. Projects can continue to min-max their SEO to land in training data. Users will continue to thrash trying to use a Mack truckload of tools where a wrench would work. And model providers will gladly take their (employer's) money to burn tokens.

Coding models seem to have the best results in languages where there's good tooling for reference + module discovery and the body of marketing materials used in training is almost zero. Go/Gleam/Zig: A+ JS: shit show
