Discovered a new (to me) artist this week at the Antenna Studios 3rd Folk Festival at the weekend. Franc Cinelli blew me away - great tunes, great vibe and some serious talent. For fans of John Martyn, Michael Chapman, M.Ward etc. Fantastic stuff! youtu.be/-ayAIg_pNRo?...

Ears still ringing and soul still fully vibrating from the incredible Crumbling Ghost at The Black Heart tonight. Played the perfect mix of some from the new album and a load of old favourites. My world needs more from them, so I really hope this wasn’t the last hurrah!

New (and final?) Crumbling Ghost album released today - and it’s an absolute doozy! Stunning doom folk full of massive distorted guitars, reworked trad English folk standards, gnarly drone like bass and undeniable groove.

@arsenalfc.bsky.social you really need to sort out the integrity of the Arsenal player app. Regularly crashes when just using for audio comms during the season, and now crashing out when people have paid for the pre season pass. Not good enough.

@matpringle.bsky.social I’ve been meaning to ask…have you read Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban? Set in post-apocalyptic Kent - lots of twisted folklore contained within. Think it would be right up your street (not an easy read though as language has devolved significantly in that future)

Always relevant, but today seems an especially good day to crank this up! Nick at his most acerbic 🔥🔥🔥

As this is two 3 track EPs smooshed together to make a 6 track EP I doubt it’s eligible for #5DebutAlbums2026, but want to shout it out anyway. Saw them live last night and they were fucking fantastic! Full length album out in August. Blind Yeo - Echoes/Anam Cara

At The Forum for Sugar this evening. Said it before, and it’s worth reiterating, that there’s a business opportunity for someone to make an app for all the 40+ yr old dudes who come to gigs by themselves to connect and make new friends.

#5DebutAlbums 1519 Scott Lavene’s debut using his own name is another stunner. The title track rightfully gets most of the plaudits, but this is exquisite from start to finish. Scott Lavene - Broke

Before he was ‘Scott Lavene’, Scott Lavene released this incredible debut. In equal measure painfully and beautifully authentic storytelling of the highest order. 10/10 zero skips masterpiece. Easily my top spot for #5DebutAlbums1519 Big Top Heartbreak - Deadbeat Ballads

Good evening @richards7370.bsky.social, need a #5DebutAlbums1519 ruling for myself (no-one else will be interested😅)… Scott Lavene released Broke in 2019 as his first album under his own name, but released Deadbeat Ballads as Big Top Heartbreak in 2016 - can I have both in my 5?!
