I am unironically in love with these "Oppa" instant ramyun noodles made by Korean manufacturer Ottogi for the Vietnamese market! Look at the stylised #Kpop star oppas on the front... do they look similar to a famous idol group to anyone? 🤣

Looking forward to delivering a masterclass workshop on "Theorizing Asian Television Dramas" to junior scholars from across the Philippines at De La Salle University tomorrow. This is a follow-up to the keynote I delivered at a conference back in May to help presenters better theorize their work :)

I wonder what Mieko Kawakami thinks hearing that Murakami Haruki has learnt nothing from her extremely pointed and much-needed critique of the sexism that structures his novels and his continued tendency to depict women via misogynistic paradigms? Source: amp.theguardian.com/books/2024/n...

The era of slave contracts in the #Kpop industry never ended, it just transformed. Labor law needs to be revised to support idols as workers (who should absolutely unionise), but the current SK government is mostly uninterested in broadening human rights legislation right now
