Claudia Martinez -> Clara Luvanga is women's football's first $3 million goal, unless I'm missing something

Many men rape; many men giggle encouragingly, or shrug indifferently, when their friends rape. Many men rape, and few seem to think that it’s a very big deal, writes columnist Moira Donegan

sandy’s ability to not just physically get back to goal so so quickly but also mentally lock back in right away is really shining today

tara just wanted to make monique feel better and give her a confidence boost! like see it happens to all of us, don’t worry

i mean intra-league trades are kind of a given! and it’s the spirit who let croix go and the spirit she would be competing against — different situations imo

010

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

like obviously that shouldn’t even be a question!! but i’m sure it’s something that could be a consideration or perceived risk for players or agents, so good to see it very clearly disproven

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

while i’m still upset because i love rebe (and now we’re a lesbian down), from a strategic perspective this move also shows that players don’t need to be worried about limitations in moving from the spirit to the WSL, even when they’ll be at clubs that are direct competition for kang’s lionesses

For a few precious hours on a few dozen acres, we saw what happens when tens of thousands of women and girls simultaneously let their guards down.

her account lowkey feels as if someone made a satire page about her but it’s actually real life and she’s genuinely posting this content

if that’s the case, it ends up hurting esther much more than gotham — like she’s lost my respect for good after this… she must have known the harm this would do to her credibility

just feels like a real waste of such a fun IP/brand that could bring more young girls into the nwsl fan base — no one cares about bob iger!!

110

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

& honestly there were ways for it to be a capitalist shill that are still fun and build the league — like revealing a teaser for the brand new live action tangled during halftime on the screens and as a commercial! or having some of the live action actors who are in LA for D23 at the game!

this explanation of the differences with MLB rules is so stupid how am i supposed to know what a mound visit is?? like the broadcast could at least explain the acronyms and sport-specific phrases instead of assuming everyone knows the sport..

maybelle blair throwing the first pitch is making me cry 🥹 like yes the world sucks so much but this is also such a reminder of how far we’ve come, that she was able to come out at 90+ and then at 99 get to throw the first pitch in the first professional women’s baseball league in over 70 years!!!

010

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

ii know ’m actually crying right now!! 🥺 but the only context i have for baseball is the a league of their own tv show that tragically was cancelled after one season so we’ll see how watching the actual game goes

010

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

okay i found a video on their story of it and it looks like there is a grounds crew but the players are helping? & honestly that feels like peak women’s sports to me, a men’s pro baseball player has probably never even thought about doing that😂😂

020

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

🍅🍅🍅🍅 ): i was hoping that wasn’t the answer boo

130

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

that’s what it looked like on tv!!! also not a single mention on socials about the rain delay… what a mess

120

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

anyone who follows men’s baseball: do players normally move the rain cover thingy on and off? can’t tell if this is one of those little baseball quirks or if it’s that the WBPL is not providing adequate staff and risking injury for their players (i would 1000% be slipping alll over that wet tarp)

240

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

that is true but definitely ways to mitigate it — i.e each team plays each team once and then plays one team ranked 1-4 last year, one team ranked 4-8, etc. (obviously i haven’t even tried to get the math right here, just presenting conceptually) & no expansion teams in 27 to complicate things

110

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

super hot take but honestly would have preferred they shortened the season rather than all this scrambling — both for the fans to not sit outside in the freezing cold & for the players to ease fixture congestion during what will be such an intense next two years betw qualifiers and the competition

i saw her at a PACKED national book festival panel on classics in translation like two years ago and skipped the line to get her book signed because it was just insanely long — wilson and her work have been popular long before some man made a film

We won’t speculate as to the nature of Emily Sonnett’s injury but professional soccer should not be played on turf.

please explain why one of our tallest players is taking this free kick instead of leicy??

071

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

& to think by the end of last season, 4/5 of these players were dealing with health situations that made their ability to play at the exceptional levels we’ve seen from them an open question — amazing what a couple months of (at least some) rest will do

020

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

to be clear, by “surprise” i mean for american/euro audiences that weren’t tuned in to the incredible talent in african soccer before temwa and barbra took the league by storm — their talent was never in question, just nwsl fans’ awareness of it

040

taylor @taylorrs.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

from a league success/marketing standpoint, i don’t think you could have a better golden boot leaderboard right now tbh — two “surprise” stand-out african players who have consistently shined in the nwsl, 2/3 of triple espresso & the uswnt’s biggest stars, & a fan-favorite dark horse candidate?? wow

golden boot race leaderboard with
1. banda
2. sanchy
3. temwa
4. trin
5. soph
