Update 10/7: there's gonna be a vacancy at the extended stay that's closer to my job, and a 15 minute walk would be so much better then being over 5 miles away. I risk missing a bus and being up a creek, so eliminating that risk and saving money by not needing a ride home would help a lot! (1/2)

Update 10/6: I can look online and see what my first paycheck is gonna look like, but the first two are arriving by physical mail before my direct deposit kicks in. I have to pay for the room by the 14th and keep myself fed, until that happens, so anything helps!

when I was 6, my mom learned that her mom had already taught me to read before I started first grade. mom asked if I liked to read. I do, but whatever I said made her realize I was bored with "kids books" so naturally she did what any good parent does: brought me a dictionary and Salem's Lot 😭

I've been working 8hr shifts so far. it's great because there's nearly a 3hr window where the day cook and night cook are here together to get through the busiest part of the day. today I came in for a short shift, and the day cook didn't cook this morning! they were here, they just didn't!

I got an update about my wage claim with my previous job. I had to appeal after a rejection, but it got approved! I'm still not sure exactly when or how much, but it looks like I'll be getting what I'm owed. my estimate was 30something hours of pay, but that was quick work so idk how accurate it is?
