[/hj] my hot take on why software design is so shit these days is because ui designers realised we peaked in 2018 with the Windows 10 Calculator app being the best looking piece of software ever made and have consequently given up trying to ever top it

you can see the orange glow of the wallpaper glowing through the frosted glass of the window which has a slight grain to it, and dimmed further in varying levels by the buttons on the window, which are all boxy and mostly aligned to a grid

the border around controls near the mouse cursor shows a glow effect, with the buttons also seeing a glow effect when hovered.

the equals button in the bottom right glows with the system accent colour.
