We are delighted to share the official conference report, written by Lisa Aref, an ECR and PhD candidate who also presented! This year’s theme, "Seas in the context of the war" highlighted our field's interdisciplinary nature, covering everything from military history to socio-cultural perspectives.
A vintage, sepia-toned photograph looking across the water towards the coastal city of Thessaloniki, taken from the perspective of a ship. Black text overlaid at the top reads: "2025 BI-ANNUAL CONFERENCE REPORT", '"Seas in the Context of the War"', and "Thessaloniki, Greece".

If the British military wanted to make servicemen fighting on the Macedonian front in 1915/1916 even more miserable, not issuing toilet paper would certainly do it #history #FirstWorldWar

Can any fellow historians recommend any reading on W. T. Massey, war correspondent for British newspapers in the First World War?

Sounds about right. “a Newfoundland Battalion had come into their barracks ‘a nice rough lot they are, we have had the pleasure of putting several in the clink already.’” (Cairo, 6 September 1915)
