Part of my pop culture alternate history project, where a series of butterfly effects lead to CN winning the One Piece license bidding war via a Faustian deal with Shueisha (they forced them to localize To Love-Ru for the American audience. I mean it worked out at the end for Sakura Wars, right?)

A copyright notice text that reads "©Flagship Co., Ltd. 2004 All Rights Reserved. DISTRIBUTED BY CAPCOM CO, LTD." can be seen on the bottom.

A genre indicator typical to Japanese Capcom box arts can also be seen on the bottom right, and it reads "ビジュアルノベル" (Visual Novel) written in midnight blue (same color used in the logo for AIR) inside a white oblong with an outline in a same color with the text.

Flux (@solderingiron.bsky.social): "I know Japanese work culture is super formal and respectful... But I never liked Miyamoto. He gets way too much credit when people only look at the games with his name on it, and nkt the culture that went into making them."

P H A N T O M (@syslbnth.neocities.org): "there had always been a whole gang of regulars working alongside miyamoto and kondo even in the '80s and '90s. there's a beautiful alternate history wherein co-director takashi tezuka, mapper hideki konno, and wizard programmers toshihiko nakago and kazuaki morita are renowned as part of his a-team.Jun: "I wonder if Nintendo mingling with Sony changes that

Maybe he comes up with a different "marketing ploy"

And highlights the entire SMB team as, well, "Nintendo's A-Team"

Maybe Maruyama takes notes from Sega's "Sonic Team"

Troubled productions my beloved
Resident Evil 4 (2005), the final installment of "Capcom Seven," also the most financially successful one of the bunch like IOTL

MOON. (2006), the game got shelved in the late 90's in favor of Maeda's more down-to-earth pitch titled ONE (which is pretty much a same VN ITTL; VNs from ONE up to Little Busters are still (all-age) VNs, releasing under Flagship brand), initially gets resurrected as a Capcom survival horror, only for it to get shelved again, with Resident Evil 4 ultimately replacing its spot on "Capcom Seven" (which was supposed to be composed entirely of brand new IPs ITTL)

Ikumi Nakamura, a new recruit of 2004, (somewhat unwittingly) takes the director's helm, finally finishing the game in 2006. The final product ITTL, heavily inspired by Eternal Darkness and its (Nintendo-patented) "Sanity Effects," is critically acclaimed (albeit technically a financial failure, rendering it a cult classic / collector's item) for its nuanced yet bold take on the cult setting, psychological horrors, and its own theme of "overcoming trauma," surprisingly feminist undertones, and its uncanny genre-busting gameplay rivaled only by Neon Genesis Evangelion on Sega Saturn

The timeline I'm working on sorta fits that bill: In ny alternate timeline, the disgruntled CD-i team within Sony joined forces with Sega, making a Genesis (called "Sega Mark V" in Japan in this timeline) successor in 1990, *internationally* called Mega Drive
(A pic of "Mega Drive," which is actually a pic of WonderMega)

The text reads:

"(Think of this design, but without bells and whistles like the automated CD top loader, and the ¥79,800 launch price...)

Mega Drive:

- CPU: Motorola / Philips 68070 @ 15.5 MHz
- PPU: Sega & Sony VDP, based in Sega Super Scaler chipset
- Sound: Zilog Z80 + Sony & Sega custom chips, based on Ricoh RF5c68 and Yamaha YM2612
- RAM: 1MB total (Hence the name 'Mega Drive'.)
- Medium: CD-i @ X1 speed
- Launch Date: December 12th, 1990 (Japan), June 23rd, 1991 (US)
- Launch Price: $299 / ¥44,800"
