He fought back and the team was great, but he needed a third surgery mid-season. He missed 36 games, but Kevin Durant carried things (his MVP season). OKC ended with the second seed, but lost in playoffs to the one-seeded Spurs in Conference Finals.

They didn’t get a chance to be the home seed vs Spurs in the Conference Finals. That was year 5 of Westbrook’s career and he hadn’t missed a game to that point. (Or in college. Or high school.) He hadn’t recovered for start of camp the next season (‘13-‘14) and needed surgery.

My biggest question about Russell Westbrook’s career: What if Patrick Beverley didn’t take out Westbrook's leg in the 2013 playoffs? Coming off their Finals appearance, 2013 was the only time Russ and KD won the 1-seed together. Russ was out and the ascension slowed down.

Why did Wemby sit last 2:34 of 2nd quarter? They lost those minutes by 3, including that lane pass from Castle to Kornet that was tipped away and lead to Hart drive/flagrant. Wemby would've caught it. He had only played 16 minutes. He had 2 fouls.
