New way to tell someone they used your deadname just dropped

This name isn't mine. It's the one I give to death - to fool it.

Carving a tanuki statue, turning a big dial taht says "balls" on it and constantly looking back at the audience for approval like a contestant on the price is right

This is now a Chantal Akerman memes account

Hackerman from Kung Fury, but letters have been taken out to make it say "Akerman" and a picture of Chantal Akerman has been poorly photoshopped on top

This came to me in a vision

Off work late? hungry for artistic stimulation? try 30 to 40 Chantal Akerman films. You will certainly not regret watching 30 to 40 Chantal Akerman films

Would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the interaction between leftism and avant-garde filmmaking It dives really deep into the films of Toshio Matsumoto in particular. He had a really fascinating idea of how documentary can and should function as an antifascist political tool

The book Antifascism and the avant-garde: radical documentary in the 1960s, by Julia Alekseyeva

This was my first time watching Fallen Angels and it has immediately become my favourite Wong Kar Wai film

Black and white shot of two people sitting together, looking lonely. There's some kind of strong diffusion filter over it, making the light soft and glowy

“You rub elbows with a lot of people every day. Some strangers might become your friends or even confidants. So I never turn my back on a chance to rub elbows. Sometimes I rub till I bleed.“ As someone who often comes across too intense in new relationships, this hit me like a Swiss Alp to the face

Shot from Fallen Angels. Very wide angle close up shot of a woman sitting in a cafe, smoking a cigarette, looking off into the distance

Blood Beat is so bizarre. A Christmas slasher where the killer is an orgasm-induced Samurai killer (or is it orgasm-inducing? I can't quite tell)

A dark red abstract painting behind a christmas tree

A samurai ready to strike with a blue aura

Watched Yi Yi at the cinema and my god it's incredible I saw it nearly 10 years ago, but I feel it so much more now I'm older. It feels like life, so huge and small, full of feeling and distance, quiet love

A gorgeous red tinged, thoughtfully composed shot of a young boy and wedding venue staff standing amidst pink ballons

Got my copy of @dtemkin.bsky.social's Forty-Four Esolangs, which I think is a must-read for anyone interested in programming languages and art. It's basically Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities for code
