Costly Mistakes Add Up for UNC Football in Loss to Notre Dame
While the Tar Heels made enough plays to hang around against Notre Dame, their upset bid was littered with missteps that did UNC no favors in its pursuit of the program's first top-three victory. "We were certainly competitive," Bill Belichick said afterward. "We missed some opportunities. We just need to do a better job taking advantage of those opportunities."

The Tar Heels had plenty of positives battling the No. 3 football team in the country as heavy underdogs, but they also felt plenty of frustration about what could have been. UNC again couldn’t overcome an opponent’s halftime adjustments as Notre Dame gashed UNC with its running game to win 37–26 on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Kenan Stadium.

Entering the fourth quarter Saturday at Kenan Stadium, UNC trailed No. 3 Notre Dame by just seven points. The Tar Heels had battled back from a 21-7 deficit to get within one early in the second half, but Notre Dame controlled the game down the stretch to leave with a 37-26 win. Ground game helps No. 3 Notre Dame push past North Carolina 37-26
CJ Carr threw for four touchdowns and ran for another and No. 3 Notre Dame regained control after halftime to beat North Carolina 37-26 on Saturday. The Irish led 21-14 after the Tar Heels turned a goal-line stand into a long touchdown drive before halftime, then came out of the break with Jaden Jefferson returning a kickoff 98 yards for another score.

Diamond Heels And Walters State Scrimmage Friday
UNC Baseball and the Walters State Senators held a lengthy scrimmage on Friday in front of a nice crowd at a sweltering Boshamer Stadium. Jamie Laskofski, who homered in his first two at bats, was 3-4 with five RBI and three runs scored. Kole Fenton was 3-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Gavin Gallaher's double contributed to his 3-6 effort.

Terrence Brown Looking to Showcase Complete Skill Set for UNC Basketball
Ranked as the No. 10 shooting guard in the transfer portal this offseason, Terrence Brown committed to Michael Malone on April 21. And when asked what his new coach expects from him, the senior guard pointed to developing a more complete game. UNC welcomes No. 3 Notre Dame to Kenan Stadium on Saturday at noon. It will be Notre Dame's 10th trip to Chapel Hill and first since 2022. Saturday's game will air on ESPN with Wes Durham, Dusty Dvoracek, and Taylor McGregor on the call. UNC DE Melkart About Jaoude To Play vs. Notre Dame
North Carolina defensive end Melkart Abou Jaoude will be available for Saturday’s noon game against No. 3 Notre Dame, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, giving the Tar Heels their best pass rusher for the biggest home test of the season. Abou Jaoude missed the previous two games with a hand injury he suffered in the season opener against TCU in Dublin.

Of the 23 football games Notre Dame and UNC have played, nothing matches 1975, when an unknown quarterback named Joe Montana came off the bench to save the Irish from an embarrassing upset in Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels led 14-6 in the fourth quarter when coach Dan Devine turned to the bench and shouted, "No. 3, get in the game."

Bella Devey's Fourth Brace Lifts No. 1 UNC Women's Soccer Past No. 12 Notre Dame
It took Bella Devey less than 17 minutes to earn her fourth brace of the season as No. 1 UNC Women's Soccer extended its win streak to eight with a 4-1 victory over No. 12 Notre Dame before 3,871 fans at Dorrance Field on Friday night (Highlights). Thin Up Front, Tar Heels Working To Build Offensive Line Depth
Four of UNC's five starting offensive linemen have played 169 of 170 snaps this season. The other starter has played 123 snaps. What stands out is that UNC has played only six offensive linemen in the meat of competitive games. Aside from the 35-3 win over East Tennessee State, when the starters left the game after UNC went ahead by five touchdowns.

No. 25 UNC Volleyball Sweeps Clemson, 3-0
No. 25 UNC Volleyball (8-3, 3-0 ACC) swept Clemson, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-14), Friday night at Carmichael Arena to bring its winning streak to four games (Highlights). The Tar Heels celebrated "Dig Pink" night by sporting pink arm sleeves and hair ties, raising awareness for breast cancer and celebrating those affected. Hailey Pearce took over the match.

Bill Belichick’s UNC Football Staff ‘Inadvertently’ Signed Termination Releases Early
For all the uncertainty surrounding the UNC Football staff, the paperwork governing their departures is already in order. A review of the contracts for UNC football staffers shows nearly all contain a termination-release exhibit signed the same day as the employment agreement. UNC says this is not standard practice and attributed it to a mistake by the football staff.

Terrence Brown Quickly Getting Taste of Carolina Spotlight
North Carolina point guard Terrence Brown has experienced plenty of firsts during his first five months at UNC. He's acclimating to coach Michael Malone, new teammates, and a new city. But the biggest adjustment, Brown said, has been something he didn't experience as much at Utah, his previous school. It’s being recognized everywhere he goes.

No. 12 UNC Field Hockey Outshoots No. 16 Louisville in Blowout Victory
The three fifth-year stars continued to make a huge impact on North Carolina’s field hockey team. Ryleigh Heck and Sietske Brüning each outshot Louisville by themselves, and Heck notched a goal as the No. 12 Tar Heels gave the No. 16 Cardinals their first ACC loss of the season (Highlights), winning at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, 3-0.

Angelo Brizzi Bringing Veteran Presence to Tar Heels Backcourt

UNC Men's Soccer standout Joschi Schelb has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List. Schelb earned his place on the watch list after scoring seven goals in nine games for the Tar Heels. Schelb, a transfer from Rutgers and a native of Freiburg, Germany, has produced a goal in each of North Carolina's last four matches.

Tony Bradley Signs With New York Knicks
The New York Knicks have signed former UNC center Tony Bradley to an Exhibit 9 contract. Bradley split time with the Pacers and Hawks last season after signing with Atlanta in April. Over eight NBA seasons with Utah, Philadelphia, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Indiana, and Atlanta, Bradley averages 4.3 points on 62-percent shooting and 3.8 rebounds.

My crazy Irish adventure: A kid watching no average Joe with legends
When UNC Football welcomes No. 3 Notre Dame to Kenan Stadium on Saturday, I will be thinking about the day in 1975 when I stood behind Paul Hornung and Lindsey Nelson at the top of the old press box as a kid without a ticket or a credential. That was 51 years ago, and the press box was never part of the plan. The plan was only to get into the stadium.
