Ashen, I think they are canon, and he’s the type to join in more for the safety of others enduring Hildibrand’s antics, than any enjoyment. Sarnai was not very impressed with the man at first, but I think she’s finding joy in his goofiness (a much needed smile after much grief).

Ashen doesn’t have cats, but he’d probably choose something based on their fur color, or go basic like Fluffy. Sarnai meanwhile USUALLY gives cutesy names. And named a Coeurl she named Whiskers. They have near nightly cuddle-piles (with Derpy, the Cu Sith, joining in).

THESE! Ashen’s is an outfit I put together for when he’s working as a Dancer (both in clubs and in combat). Sarnai’s is the outfit she’s wearing as she travels through Ishgard, and is just so cute, I kinda want it IRL.

Sarnai sometimes has difficulty controlling it, but for the most part can hide her emotions without her tail betraying them. It’s only when she is feeling things extremely strongly, or when she’s embarrassed/flustered, that she loses control over it.

Ashen, I only ship him with Cid. They bonded after he was in hiding, and they work on vehicles together sometimes. Sarnai, I have options. She has a thing for Cid starting. She thinks Emmanellain is cute. Had a crush on Magnai back in the Steppe. Might have feels for Aymeric soon too.

Ashen brings store bought chocolates, and the fact he watched his mother die in front of him because of a Garlean soldier as they fled Ala Mhigo. Sarnai’s traumas are all since coming to Eorzea, so she has a LIST. And she’d bring home made gummies, cookies, and licorice.

Sarnai’s story gets tweaked a fair bit every couple days, though I try to keep the same basic notes. For Ashen, his story stayed pretty consistent. I dabbled with the idea of him changing races due to maybe father genetics during ShadowBringers, but decided against it.

Ashen— man is a Dancer and Astrologian, but he’s also a Dark Knight. The most terrifying way is telling people exactly what he will do to them, followed by making sure they are awake the entire time he does it. A few Garleans have experienced his lack of Mercy

Ashen, his strength (both of body and of will). Man literally gave Zenos a beat down, and managed to keep himself from drowing in Emptiness after finally freeing Ala Mhigo, his goal of 20+ years. Sarnai? Cuteness. But also her empathy and perseverance, even in the face of her open grief and weeping

Ashen regrets Ilberd, Zenos, and (for different reasons) Yotsuyu. Sarnai’s regrets for various reasons are Lolorito, Ilberd, Estinien, and, to a small extent, the folks who were lost at the Waking Sands (as she blames herself for what happened there). That last one also carries to Nanamo.

Ashen doesn’t know his father so, no idea. His mother, I think some of his actions may draw questions, but for the most part, she’d approve of his path. Sarnai’s mother and father (and grandmother) would 100% be proud of her, but also be ready to hug her worries and sadness away (and beat skulls)

Ashen isn’t really a self insert, other than the fact he also wears glasses (and def needs therapy). So he was mostly from scratch. Sarnai is also mostly from scratch, but has a bit more of me in her comparatively, between being more emotional to the story, and her dream being one I used to have

Ashen definitely didn’t say it FIRST, but I think they both began showing displays before either of them ever said anything. Meanwhile Sarnai over here is starting to realize she has feelings (and I think he is too), so it’ll be a tossup for who finally takes the first steps if they become a thing

Both Ashen and Sarnai are quite tense about Formal Events after *That* event. Ashen wasn’t great about them beforehand, though, while Sarnai saw them as a nice way to socialize without too much worry.

Ashen handles gifts pretty well, but praise makes him feel all sorts of awkward. Sarnai, meanwhile, loves being praised (but too much may begin to make her feel a bit strange), but gifts she feels the need to reciprocate, so she’s not exactly great about receiving them.

Ashen always has glasses on, mostly because his eye sight is starting to weaken as he gets older. Sarnai tends to have flowers in her hair, or a butterfly ornament (technically MB and GS bought, I headcanon they were gifts from her grandmother and parents and siblings when she left the Steppe).

Ashen Prayer had a different name that often got shortened to Hope before his mother passed. Ashen or Ash are what most folks call him now, not much else. Sarnai, meanwhile, has a few nicknames. Rose, Little Rose, and Songbird are just a few (rose being a translation of her name), and she’s Qalli

Ashen does side gigs, honestly. Just helps with any work he can when not diving into his work as an adventurer. Sarnai hope to make becoming an Idol her main career, so became an adventurer to spread her name. She gets caught in a lot, BUT does make time to go out and do things to promote herself

Ashen started as someone who wanted to wave a wand to fix things, but became more a war-surgeon as time went. Sarnai stayed the true magical way, often using some Bardic training to assist in channeling healing aether and empowering it with Dynamis.

Ashen, as an only child of his single mother, was doted upon. They had a close connection and he helped her however he could when they lived in Ala Mhigo. Her death is the reason he changed his name to Ashen. Sarnai has MANY siblings, but they all are loved by her mother, who protected and taught

Ashen hasn’t really changed, though I headcanon he has a LOT more scars now. Sarnai though, recently hit HW. She’d had a more playful hairstyle for so long, and after wearing it down for *that* event of ARR, she went for a more mature and “sophisticated” style to wear while in Ishgard

Sarnai is pretty truthful about her age (and how young she is, barely in her 20s, catches folks off guard). Ashen, meanwhile, tends to hide his actual age, especially because it was even MORE of a shock when the Scions learned he’s in his early 40s.
