#tldr explains a lot of the mess we're in. Maybe try #ttttrau instead (took the time to read and understand)? Or #rmsttau (read multiple sources to try and understand). Not pithy, but that's the point.

I started writing this about blackberries and it morphed into a piece about the Morrell Nature Sanctuary on #vancouverisland

In an Alexander McCall Smith book it is written “the rule in the Saville Club in London, on the members’ breakfast table, is a sign saying ‘conversation not preferred.’” I am considering adopting this when we have guests. I like having them for the rest of the day but mornings are tough! #introverts

"True humility is rare. It requires meekness, to have a lowly opinion of oneself, and the ability to recognize one's own failings. Taken together, these characteristics make humility almost nonexistent in academe." Summer reading for therapy? #Humour #academicChatter www.kobo.com/ww/en/ebook/...

I know, I know, largest market etc... but still, why feed the machine? There are other publishing options for those #antiamazon . For example #kobo (you don't need a kobo ereader - the app is free) or #books2read or #smashwords or... other suggestions? #booksky #alternatives #indieauthors

Unaltered photo taken from my Dad’s front steps in the Canadian Rockies. While exciting to see, it’s worrisome that the bears are looking for garbage instead of foraging in the nearby forest. Dangerous for the bears 😢 #nature #bears

Hello happy #booksky folk. I just chatted with a friend who is an admittedly slow reader but is just about finished Demon Copperhead. He recommended Atonement by Ian McEwan a while ago. I loved it and suggested Ann Patchett back. Anything else in this line people might recommend?

Henrietta Lacks was a Black woman whose (ovarian) cancer cells were used wo her/her family’s consent. Her cells are what would become the HeLa cell, the first immortalized human cell line & one of the most important in medical research. #BackHistoryMonth

wondering what a 15 year old girl in 1999 would have read other than the Harry Potter series. Thought maybe a Jodi Picoult but the one I started as a possibility for my character (picture perfect) is not very good at all. 🖋️📚

apologies if you can’t access this excellent opinion article about the perils of relying on AI. still posting because I thought all the amazing #booksky readers and writers would find the ideas affirming www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

Opinion: AI writing just isn’t good enough – and if you’re using it, everyone can already tell
As the differences become more and more obvious, the question we should be asking is no longer ‘Will anyone notice?’ but ‘Would it matter – and why?’

I don't often read things as they first come out and love revisiting old favourites which made me think of the first novels I read when I was 10 or 11. Nancy Drew and LOTR stand out, which reflect favourite genres to this day. What do others remembe? 🖋️📚💙 ⚡️📚
