Sehr geehrter Herr Geuter,

I don't want to give the article too much shit because moving away from big tech is important and all. But this - from someone running services - is a bad sign. Instead of checking out the docs of the software you migrate to if it has a direct migration path […] [Original post on tldr.nettime.org]
Repositories, users, secrets, actions were super simple to move from GitHub to Forgejo. I did it manually with the help of Claude Code before realising Forgejo had a built-in migration tool, which I suspect would have probably been faster and used no tokens :D

"There's nothing structural about those things that prevents agents figuring out how to do that stuff" is load-bearing here. Sure it is. All those things require understanding the problem space, the deployment context, the future needs and goals of the […] [Original post on tldr.nettime.org]
Assumption 1: agents are going to eat the entire software development lifecycle

This assumption is based on the observation that agents are currently very good at writing code and mediocre at everything that comes after that: reviewing code, testing it, finding bugs, fixing bugs, deploying to production, monitoring, and scaling up. They suck at that stuff right now, but my assumption is that that’s a temporary state of affairs. There’s nothing structural about those things that prevents agents figuring out how to do that stuff. If you think I’m right about that, this post will be of interest, but if you think I’m wrong now is a good time to bail.

My wife bought new salad cutlery and because of the weird number of arms on the fork my first impulse was "that's AI". Which of course doesn't make sense because I was holding the object in my hands.

The "AI Compass" is cute. But I am disappointed not to get put into the "Luddite" group. And I personally wouldn't have made an artist that went all in on NFTs the "patron saint" of "The Conscientious Objector" bambamramfan.github.io/ai-compass
Screenshot of my Result going through the "AI compass". I was assigned the group "The Conscientious Objector" with the description: "It doesn't work well, it's doing real harm, and you've opted out on principle. You're not a technophobe — you just think this specific technology is overhyped and corrosive, and you're tired of being told you just don't understand it. You understand it fine.

[...]

The Open Source community never learned that big tech is not trustworthy. Maybe this time? (based on de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:Zuckerb…)
Screenshot of a conversaton originally between Mark Zuckerberg and a friend in which Zuckerberg telle the friend that he has all data about anyone at Harvard. When asked how he just says "don't know, people just trust me". The friens has already typed "dumb fucks" into his chat box without having it sent yet.

The image has been edited by me to prsent it as a conversation from github with a friend.
Github asks is the friend ever needs code for their proprietary codebase because github has all the code in the world stripped of its license in an LLM.
The conversation stays as the original: friend asks "how" and github answers "dunno, they just gave it to me, they trust me".

"On the acceptance of GenAI" smallsheds.garden/blog/2026/on-the-…
By using GenAI:
I accept the models were trained on stolen data.
I accept that the data was labeled by exploited workers.
I accept the environmental costs of the data centers running these models.
I accept that I am outsourcing some of my skills to a company.
I accept these companies don’t have a viable business model.
I accept that I am granting more power to big tech and their vision for the world.
I accept that I am granting more power to the United States.
I accept that all this effort could have been spent elsewhere.

If any of these facts are new to you, you haven’t been doing your due diligence.
