I think a lot about this bit by Kazuya Niinou about how an RPG can be one thing on your screen and another thing in your brain

How to use your imagination

When your party stays at the Inn overnight, what do they eat?

If you ever catch yourself wondering that, then you know you've formed an attachment to your characters.

With Etrian Odyssey's characters, you only give them a name and a portrait, so no matter how you think of the character, it's technically just your imagination. But even in that case, without your imagination, the character is nothing.

For example, a landsknecht who uses an axe might eat his meat with his bare hands and no utensils, but one who wields a sword might prefer a knife and fork at dinner. You might think differently, but... If you can imagine small details like that, you might find that you enjoy this kind of RPG even more.

The essence is an RPG is using numbers to make calculated decisions, but if you invest those "numbers" with your own feelings, you can spice up the game a little. Think about this:

In your party of five, three characters are dead. Two of them are alive, but they only have a couple of HP left, and no TP. They're certain to die in their next turn, giving you a game over. Number-wise, those characters are useless, but how do you imagine they feel about that? What kind of people are those 2 characters who are about to die? Try to imagine things like that in the brief time before your game ends.

Are they a landsknecht and a ronin, who'll die facing the enemy and laughing? Is it a protector, ordering the weak medic to run with his last breath?

The game over screen looks the same every time, but in your imagination, it could play out very differently.

The game itself isn't that big of a thing; what you imagine for yourself is much more fun. We hope that the player uses this game as a tool, to create dramatic and fun situations in your own minds.

I keep forgetting that basic shit I know in computer science is absolute WIZARDRY to other people. Like I be doing the most basic fixes and people act like I just cast some crazy computer-fixing spell.

Decided to journal some, for mindfulness purposes. I came to a conclusion my brain has been trying to tell me isn’t true. My friends do love me. A lot. I’m sorry I couldn’t see the forest through the trees. I love you all, and honestly I don’t deserve you all.

Funny 90’s cup background moment

Don't approve of murder. Don't approve of what happened to him. But he actively contributed to the environment that has birthed this violence. This outrage. This fear. He lied like he breathed and told MILLIONS to hate and eliminate innocent people, through prettied up language. Fuck him.

Happy 3-year anniversary to Don't Play Defense #Art #Pride

Mspaint doodle- a person strides forward, wearing a shirt with a trans flag. They say "I LOVE being trans!". They have an expression of pure glee.

The person is stopped by someone else, who accusingly points while they say "You! Justify your happiness to me!"

The accosting person says "Debate me no-". They are cut off by the person in the trans shirt saying "No thank you!" as lasers shoot from their eyes, exploding the head of the other character in a cartoonish fashion.

The accosting person stands, alive but expressionless as their headless torso smolders. The person in the trans shirt walks away, a stupidly happy grin still present.

Something I made during stream! Now that I know I’m bigendered, drawing both masc and fem Tanjous together is very healing for me… ;w;

A large dragon furry carrying a smaller dragon furry. The larger dragon looks upon the smaller one with a serene, caring expression, while the smaller is drawing on a device. There is a sprawling cityscape in the background with shops, apartments and a construction site.

fun simple ref i finished for one of my besties!! #furry #furryart #refsheet

Ref sheet of a simple anthro fox. Their design is mostly orange with brown sock markings on all four limbs, brown ears, and brown snout. Their tummy is white, as well as tail tip, jaw, and inner ears. Their hair is long and purple, resembling a mullet, and they have purple stubble on their chin. The ref sheet reads: “Phi. Red fox. Forever 34. They/them. Eyes rarely open. Fluff in ears! Don’t that bald! Earring. Crescent shaped tail!” There is also a box at the bottom labeled “Seasonal differences!” that reads: “Spring + summer: slim. Fall + winter: gains weight. Becomes fluffy. Tail resembles a maple leaf.”
