#LondonPics 83 The iconic mock-Tudor hut in the centre of Soho Square Gardens was built in 1925 as an architectural disguise for an underground electricity substation. It's now Grade II listed.

#LondonPics 81 This bench is in the Lloyd's Register Building before the Chairman's Office. It was designed by the sculptor Frank Lynn Jenkins who designed the sweeping bronze frieze on the first-floor landing and the sculpture "The Spirit of British Maritime Commerce" at the top of the staircase.

#LondonPics 80 This is the clock tower at Hampton Court Palace featuring a magnificent 16th century astronomical clock. The clock was installed in 1540 on the gatehouse to the inner court and it is still functioning - albeit with parts replaced.

#LondonPics 79 These two photos really don't do justice to the gem that is St Mary le Strand. It's stunning in detail and scale. The original church building was demolished in 1549 to make way for Somerset House. The new church was consecrated in 1724.

#LondonPics 78 The always vibrant Chinatown. I go for the supermarkets, but most go to find and experience authentic East and Southeast Asian cuisine in the very heart of London.

#LondonPics 75 This is 59 Greek Street in Soho - recently painted pink on what is now a shop on part of the ground floor. A bit of social and philanthropic history this time.... My interest in this was that The Soho Club and Home for Working Girls was founded here by Maude Stanley in 1883.

#LondonPics 74 Biggest door stop I've ever seen! 6ft? This character is at the Edgar Wallace pub in Devereux Court. Caught my eye with a pop of colour and a little fun in the serious legal district.

#LondonPics 73 This is Time Terminus by the artist, Lodewyk Pretor and was put outside Leytonstone tube station in 1999. The cone on the top was a recent addition and not part of the artwork!

#LondonPics 72 Church of St Mary and St Joseph, a distinctive Roman Catholic parish church in Poplar. Designed by Adrian Gilbert Scott (younger brother of Giles who was the designer of Battersea Power Station and the iconic K2 red telephone box) and consecrated in 1960, it's now Grade II-listed.

#LondonPics 70 I know it is another ceiling, but I really love this one at Temple Church. Built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century, birthplace of Magna Carta, chapel of the Inner and Middle Temples, and steeped in history. Do go and visit - especially when they have their history talks on

#LondonPics 68 This is the beautiful Pond Garden at Hampton Court Palace - with the Little Banqueting House in the background. The Pond Garden was originally built in the 1530s as freshwater fish ponds for King Henry VIII, like carp and bream for the royal kitchen.

#LondonPics 67 Caryatids on Euston Road - above the crypt of St Pancras (New) Church, consecrated in 1822. Thought to have been based on the Porch of the Maidens at the Erechtheum. They have central cast iron columns which provide the support for the roof, with terracotta used to form the figures.

#LondonPics 66 I know it is another ceiling pic, but the reading room at The Maughan Library is awesome. The room has a dodecagonal shape and rises through three tiers of cast-iron galleries. A striking, shallow glass-and-iron dome caps the space, flooding the desks below with natural light.

#LondonPics 65 200 year old collection box. Following the dissolution of the monasteries in the 1530s, which previously looked after those in need, the Poor Laws were passed mandating that parishes and hospitals had collections for the poor like this box here - although this is not as old as that!

#LondonPics 63 Yesterday we had the City of London Police call post. Today, this is a replica of the Metropolitan Police Watchbox. Famous for inspiring the Dr Who TARDIS, this replica was put outside Earl's Court Station in 1996.

#LondonPics 62 This is a City of London Police Call Post - one of only 8 that survive on the streets of London today - now Grade II listed. These small cast-iron towers were installed from the late 1920s throughout the City, reaching their peak in the 1950s with over 600 of them in use.

#LondonPics 60 An atmospheric view of the Charterhouse. This is part of the 14th Century monastery cloister, later made in to a garden with Tudor brickwork. Photo includes a stone flag floor and the remains of a doorway leading to what was once a Carthusian monk's cell.

#LondonPics 57 Beneath the Guildhall Great Hall lie the largest surviving medieval crypts in London. They were built at different times and are different styles. The west crypt (2nd pic) is thought to be from the late 13th Century so older than the current 15th Century hall above it.

We know that the summer holidays can be challenging for families living in poverty. Children shouldn’t have to worry about the things that adults do, which is why we are campaigning for change. Donate now: buttleuk.org/donate
