Today is my four year anniversary of being on HRT, hormone replacement therapy. And it is Tu Bishvat, the Jewish new year for trees, a holiday celebrating trees and fruits and the slow onset of Spring.

Being trans is one of the most beautiful things that ever happened to me.

Growth is a gorgeous mystery and a gift. But it doesn't always happen by itself. Sometimes you have to decide to grow.

Sometimes you have to go toward the places where you seem most inert and tell those places: "it is time for you to grow."

And the same applies to the societies we live in, the way we take care of each other, the way we protect each other. We have to look at the places where things never get better, the areas where the world always seems to do the same thing, and say: "it is time to grow and change."

Don't get me started but I do think being trans is a spiritual orientation and discipline. We looked at something that everyone insisted was unchangeable and we changed it. We defy a consensus that is not okay for us and we make something new. We are the Springtime that, in the middle of winter, is already coming.
